Cisco Network Engineer Jobs

Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Director of Site Reliability, the Solutions Engineer (Network) is responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, operation, evolution, and maintenance of all aspects of the organization's technologies supporting production and internal operations. The Network Engineer plays an integral role in the department’s planning, development, and future growth.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design network, security, and storage infrastructure to maintain a multi-site cloud infrastructure
• Build, deployment and support of VxLAN
• Ensure the operational stability of the network
• Provide coverage and throughput planning for networks including the appropriate network architecture and structure
• Build, deployment and support of Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)
• Maintain a comprehensive level of documentation that reflects the current network environment
• Provide Level 2-3+ support for any network or security issues, including escalations from the Site Reliability team
• Investigate possible security breaches as part of the incident management team
• Provide guidance on other technologies and evaluate their impact on the network infrastructure
• Work with multiple teams to identify and resolve bottlenecks or other network configuration issues
• Participate with the team in change and incident management processes; provide root cause analysis for service distributions
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for Priority 1 Critical Issues
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex network issues
• Perform installations, configurations, maintenance, and operations of any new or existing network infrastructure devices to support the cloud environment

Required Experience and Certifications

• Extensive knowledge of layer 2 – 3 network technologies (QoS, Netflow, QinQ, 802.1x, ISIS, OPSF, BGP, VRRP, VRF, IRB, MSTP, STP, LACP)
• Cisco ACI experience building, deploying and supporting Application Centric Infrastructure
• Fibre Channel Storage Administration
• Experience with HPE C7000 Chassis configuration (Virtual Connect Configuration)
• Juniper JNCIP-ENT/JNCIE-ENT or equivalent network certification (Juniper MX, EX, QFX hardware, Cisco CCNP/CCIE would also be extremely valuable)
• Firewall Security and Administration (Juniper SRX of PFSense platforms)
• Experience with Fibre Channel Switching on Brocade platform
• 3+ years professional experience as a network engineering or equivalent position
• 3+ years of professional experience with large enterprise and/or service provider level networks
• Experience building, deploying and supporting VxLAN
