About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Category Manager to join our dynamic team at SNDL in the retail division. As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to drive sales, maximize profitability, and enhance the overall customer experience within specific product categories. You will collaborate with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure the success of our retail operations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a rapidly evolving industry.


Responsibilities:


Category Strategy Development:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies aligned with overall business objectives, market trends, and consumer insights.

Product Assortment:

  • Identify and evaluate new product opportunities and make data-driven decisions regarding product assortment, ensuring optimal product mix and variety to meet customer demands.

Supplier Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

Competitive Analysis:

  • Monitor market trends, analyze competitors' offerings, pricing, and promotional activities to identify opportunities and provide recommendations for maintaining a competitive edge.

Sales and Margin Optimization:

  • Analyze sales data, pricing, and promotional effectiveness to maximize sales and profitability within assigned categories.

Inventory Management:

  • Collaborate with inventory planning and logistics teams to optimize inventory levels, minimize stock outs, and reduce excess inventory through accurate demand forecasting and replenishment strategies.

Marketing Collaboration:

  • Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: Stay informed about industry regulations and ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies pertaining to the sale of cannabis products.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to develop effective marketing campaigns, promotions, and loyalty programs to drive category sales and increase customer engagement.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, finance, and legal to ensure seamless execution of category plans and initiatives.


Qualifications:


  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using analytical tools such as Excel, PowerBI, or other data visualization software.
  • Proven experience as a Category Manager or similar role in the retail industry, preferably within the cannabis industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian retail cannabis market, including product trends, regulations, and competitive landscape considered an asset.
  • Passion for the cannabis industry and staying up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive category performance and make informed decisions.
