Casual Locomotive Operator Jobs

We are looking for a self-starter to join our team. As a Casual Locomotive Operator, you will be responsible for tasks associated with the safe operation of a locomotive and loading railcars at our facility. Our ideal candidate will offer flexible availability between day and night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate rail switches as required
• Operate diesel-electric locomotives
• Aware of what is going on with the train and work closely with other members of the facility loading crew
• Efficiently moving railcars to help station staff achieve target load times
• Adhere to Viterra safety programs

Knowledge And Skills

• Effective communication skills are essential
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Must possess good interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
• Physical ability to perform the required duties of the role

Education And Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Must hold an Industrial Rail License
• Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license
• Certified in Canadian Rail Operating Rules
• Minimum of five years of experience as a fully qualified locomotive operator.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
