Requirements Candidate Profile


Key Responsibilities


  • Coordination with other engineering and architectural disciplines
  • Perform field work related to the assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures.
  • Work under the direction of a Project Engineer as a member of the project team, from conceptual and preliminary stage of project design to its completion.
  • Contract administration/construction review while implementing restoration work
  • Formulate building science and structural rehabilitation programs
  • Some structural design and analysis to determine effective repair alternatives
  • Preparation of condition assessment reports and written recommendations
  • Perform effectively in both an office and construction site environment.
  • Client liaison


Professional Qualifications


  • Team player with ability to work independently with minimum direction
  • A self-starter who learns quickly and works hard
  • Registered or eligible to register with ASET
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to work overtime at some odd hours as needed to meet site requirements
  • Able to conceptualize in three dimensions
  • 5 years of post-education experience in structural engineering or construction, with an understanding of structural restoration and building science
  • Aptitude for working with existing facilities and comfortable working at heights
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA OR
  • Diploma in civil/structural/architectural technology from accredited technical college
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Degree in Civil Engineering – Preference for those candidates with completed courses in Building Science OR
