Building Science Project Engineer Jobs

Provide project management and related contract administration

Tech savvy in Microsoft Office suite and project management software

Manage projects to ensure they meet corporate goals for safety, quality, budget, schedule and profitability

Manage project accounting, billings and receivables, including; project billings and signoff, subcontractor payment certificates, service/work order billings and client invoices

Project management: 5 years (required)

4 – 6 years of experience minimum

Ability to identify risks – to satisfy client and the company requirements.

Energy efficiency and sustainable designs

Transfer of heat, air, and moisture through a building envelope

P.Eng. status with appropriate provincial association

Clarify roles and responsibilities of those on the project team and ensure expectations are understood;

Manage the contract administration and quality of restoration projects at the construction stage;

Assign project team and manage project to achieve deliverables on time and on budget.

Understand and manage client expectations and direct WSP performance to meet or exceed them.

Handle P.O.s and invoicing and manage Accounts Receivable within targets.

Perform condition surveys, gather data and prepare reports, drawings and specifications

Perform investigations required to diagnose specific problems related to building structures and the building envelopeand recommend repair options

Perform property condition assessments and prepare reports

Perform reserve fund studies / building condition surveys and prepare reports

Prepare plans drawings and specifications for restoration projectsin accordance with established codes and standards

Perform on-site field reviews of construction/renovation/rehabilitation projects for general conformance

Exceptional time-management and organizational skills

Set up project files and establish expectations for management of documents and records.

Help others with learning skills in your knowledge area

Strong leadership skills and ability to manage the project team

Conduct project team start-up meeting, delegate responsibilities, and identify any gaps (in resources or training) that need to be filled.

Clarify roles and responsibilities of those on the project team and ensure expectations are understood.

Minimum of five years technical experience with proven ability in project management and business development

Experienced in conducting reserve fund studies and directing staff to perform RFS

Experienced in building condition assessments and design, and able to lead junior staff to perform BCA

Experienced in coordinating building repair, such as roof and window replacements, balcony, cladding and parking garage repair

Leadership skills are an asset

Intermediate Building Science Project Manager

Over 5+ years of project management experience in core & shell / base building / repositioning construction

Experience with design build, lump sum and construction management contracts

University degree in relevant field such as engineering, construction management, architecture studies, mechanical engineering

Tech savvy in Microsoft Office suite and project management software

Manage projects to ensure they meet corporate goals for safety, quality, budget, schedule and profitability

Attend workshops, classes, seminars, and other courses to develop strong technical knowledge and expertise in Building Enclosures.

Have experience and ability to working at heights (ladder, swing stage, man-lifts, etc.).

Excellent competence in written and verbal communication skills in English (French is an asset).

5 years of post-education experience in structural engineering or construction, with an understanding of structural restoration and building science

Willing to work overtime at some odd hours as needed to meet site requirements

Participates in client correspondence and project coordination

Coordinates testing of construction products including glazing systems

Involved in sample preparation, test setup, data collection & analysis

Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a University or College program in mechanical engineering, material science or building construction

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required

Experience in Building Envelope design and construction

Experience in a consulting firm environment

2+ years of experience in building sciences, engineering or architecture, focusing on Building Condition Assessments or Reserve Fund Study planning;

Mechanical / Electrical Inspection experience is an asset;

An excellent communicator, with strong verbal, written and presentation skills in the English language;

In-depth knowledge of building materials and constructions processes for construction and/or repairs building envelopes;

Contribute to the preparation of thorough, accurate and concise reports, including detailed cost estimates based on real-world data.
