About Us:
Portage M&A Advisory is a boutique firm located in the GTA that specializes in guiding business owners through the divestiture process. As a result of the uptick in demand, we are looking to add an Associate to our deal team.
The Opportunity:
More specifically, we are searching for someone who enjoys the challenge of managing a variety of sell-side mandates simultaneously.The Associate will work independently and as part of a team and is comfortable taking deals from inception to completion with limited support and training.The successful candidate will be comfortable managing client relationships, familiar with pitch documents (ie. CIMs, teasers), and enjoy working closely with other specialists on the deal team.
Key Responsibilities:
·Manage sell-side engagements from start to finish demonstrating an ability to balance technical aspects of dealmaking with the interpersonal side of the deal
·Thoroughly analyze the financial aspects of privately owned companies, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of essential concepts like cash flow, working capital, capital expenditures, and forecasting
·Work with Sellers, Buyers, and their advisors with the goal to move transactions toward closing the deals
·Preparation of Confidential Information Memorandums and Teasers
·Project manage the due diligence process for buy and sell-side engagements
·Leverage existing professional connections/network and develop new relationships with accountants, lawyers, bankers, wealth advisors, etc. to collaborate with other professionals through the various stages of a deal
Qualifications:
·Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Finance/Accounting
·Professional Designation (ie. CPA, CFA, CBV) or MBA strongly preferred
·3+ years of investment banking or corporate finance experience
·Strong analytical capabilities with exceptional communication skills
·Team player with the ability to work independently
