Assistant Manager - Production Equipment Maintenance

Reporting to the Manager - Facilities, the Assistant Manager - Production Equipment Maintenance would manage a safe, cost effective and efficient facilities maintenance and repair program, meeting quality standards, by overseeing the maintenance, reconstruction and repair of a wide variety of production or processing machines and equipment. Provide leadership and direct supervision to staff, develop the team for future growth and ensuring succession management plans are on track.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure the effective initial set-up/operations of production or processing machines and equipment.

• Trouble shoot CNC equipment and process system, and carry out repairs
• Participate in recruitment of new team members.
• Lead continuous improvement of the preventive and predictive maintenance program, TPM resources, and other processes and efficiencies.
• Perform some administrative duties.
• Manage external contractors as required.
• Manage a safe, cost effective and efficient facilities maintenance and repair program; ensuring maintenance records are kept and program meets quality standards.
• Maintain a safe working environment including the completion of safety training, safety audits, accident investigations, utilization of personal protective equipment and compliance with all safety policies, rules and programs.
• Participate in planning and budget cycle; review monthly expenses vs budgeted.
• Ensure maintenance and equipment inventory is managed effectively; purchase spare parts for the facility, lift trucks and production machinery; maintain assets records in MicroMain.
• Build a strong maintenance team by defining performance expectations and managing performance through coaching, feedback and performance reviews.
• Train and develop new and existing employees by identifying training needs.
• Review and modify PM scheduling and instruction, procedures and simplifying them.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies.

Minimum Requirements

• 2+ years experience supervising technical team
• Experience in electrical systems (building and mechanical) is an asset.
• Facilities knowledge, specifically mechanical/electrical, current and future state
• Knowledgeable in the budgeting and planning process, providing specific guidance with respect to key equipment requiring refurbishment, replacement
• 7+ years of experience manufacturing equipment installation and servicing
• OACETT, Electrician or Millwright certification is an asset.
• Diploma or Bachelors degree in industrial, electrical or mechanical engineering or technology.
• Sense of urgency, ability to be both proactive, reactive, and resourceful
• A collaborative team player with the ability to establish successful partnership with various stakeholders (e.g. production and leadership) to properly support business needs and business change
• Effective problem solver with the ability to analyze and prioritize actions to meet business needs

Physical Effort
Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 5kg/11lbs
Travel
Minimal travel required.
