Assistant Financial Controller
In this accounting and finance opportunity you will work in combination from your home office as well as from our 2 southern Ontario facilities in Ayr and Brampton. You will work directly with our accounting teams across North America and our Canadian VP of Finance & Accounting who is based from these facilities. You'll contribute to the success of the company by ensuring the timely, accurate and compliant execution of all aspects of accounting and the reporting of the financial position. You’re someone with proven expertise in the implementation and monitoring for compliance with local, regional and federal requirements, adherence to GAAP, protecting the financial assets and managing inventory in collaboration with the logistics and manufacturing teams. Your business orientation means you keep an eye on ensuring proper cash flow and ensuring working capital is maximized. Your entrepreneurial mindset will encourage you to always seek out improvements, enhancements and ways to better the business.
Responsibilities
- Implements the application and monitoring of enterprise procedures and financial controls at the facility to attain objectives while ensuring facility understanding;
- Manage all aspects of Inventory, A/P, A/R, payroll, withholdings, remittances, bonuses, and commission computations at a facility level.
- Financial information and statements are accurately and consistently prepared and reported for the facility, attaining all deadlines;
- Provide in-depth, ongoing financial monitoring of all aspects of the facility to ensure profitable billings, positive cash flow and proactive identification and correction of actual and potentials shortfalls;
Qualifications
- Flexible: you understand that the ambiguous nature of fast-growing businesses means priorities change and the day-to-day focus evolves. You’re open to taking things on that can make a difference but maybe aren’t “in your job description”. You’re also open to occasional working extended or unusual hours to assist with our team members who work alternative shifts.
- Capable:a degree / diploma in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or accounting management experience with a major corporation or within a division of a national or international organization. You'll be adept at translating complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels.
- Leadership:you'll have a team of accounting administrators who will look to you for leadership. You're a self starter who comes with you own batteries to work independently, identify opportunities and recommend solutions, while modeling and training your team.
- Clever:you make things happen - even if you don’t have all the answers and are able to solve problems by finding solutions where it seems none are to be had. Your passion is numbers. You'll have proven prowess analyzing, interpreting and reporting on periodic business financials including the production and dissemination of balance sheets and income (P&L) statements.
