Job Description

PURPLE was founded in 2017 at the intersection of industrial design, streetwear, and luxury fashion. A collective of friends and industry veterans set out to launch a collection of men’s denim and luxury basics. Denim is the anchor of the modern man’s wardrobe; PURPLE is dedicated to making that anchor more interesting.


We have established a rapidly growing market in Canada and the US over the past 6 years; now we have our sights set on global expansion.

We are currently seeking an Apparel Product Development Lead to join our team in Vancouver, BC, for an in-office position. As the Apparel Product Development Lead, you will have the opportunity to manage a small team and play a crucial role in the development and execution of our apparel products. We are looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and a passion for coaching and mentoring are essential for this role.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with care and content label upkeep and development.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team and cross-functionally to drive successful product development processes.
  • Lead fitting sessions – measuring & photographing samples, taking detailed notes and conveying corrections to factories.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders, drive innovation and elevate processes for improvement.
  • Follow the garment from the development stage all the way through the production stages to the finished product.
  • Liaise with international development teams overseas to solve problems throughout the sampling & production phases.
  • Produce detailed & accurate garment tech packs, including BOM, specifications, and design details.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, provide constructive feedback, and assist in professional development plans for team members.
  • Assist with the sourcing of fabrics and trims.
  • Take on special projects as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
  • Manage a small team providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Assist research & development of new styles in various categories – tops and cut & sew.


Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain timelines and meet critical deadlines.
  • Possibility to travel internationally.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate OneDrive, Microsoft Office, and Teams would be an asset.
  • Decisive and strategic leader with a proven track record.
  • Passionate about mentoring, coaching, and training technical team members according to individual goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as the project requires.


Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficient with PLM software.
  • 2 + years of managerial experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Development, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and/or good understanding of grading.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • 8 + years experience in apparel Technical Development or Product Development.
  • Hands-on experience with garment measurements and POM.
  • Proficiency in using Mac OS, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Excel.
