Job Description
ADVANCEMENT ANALYST

ADVANCEMENT

NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone who can find ways forward in the support of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, Raiser’s Edge and all online fundraising systems and processes that feed into the Foundation. At NorQuest we believe in our students and how the power of education changes lives. Our donors are a key part in creating accessible education opportunities, removing barriers, and allowing our learners to flourish, and the Advancement Analyst helps us ensure our donor information and activities support our fundraising goals.

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Initiatives and Operations, Data Analyst understands the philanthropic context within which fundraising takes place and leads the Foundation in adherence to the strict rules and regulations pertaining to the proper accounting of charitable contributions. The Data Analyst is also responsible for the identification and research of donors and community partners by investigating and assessing key biographical and philanthropic information to generate profiles and reports to pursue and secure new donors.

The role requires significant attention to detail and experienced knowledge of complex data entry and creates valuable analytic reporting tools to support the departments within Advancement and the portfolio of External Relations.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • Develop and synthesize prospect information in a clear and concise manner while utilizing existing software (e.g. Raiser’s Edge and iWave) and other sources to produce detailed prospect profiles including biographies, giving capacity/history, philanthropic interests, community investment initiatives, and connection to NorQuest College.
  • Proactively track and disseminate donor and prospect-related information by monitoring media sources.
  • Request the creation of new donation funds, determining donation departments and signing authorities.
  • Develop a plan for systematically and proactively updating Advancement records and aligning data management activities with fundraising and alumni management priorities.
  • Support and contribute to guidelines and annual plans related to prospect research with the intent to drive data-driven decision making and fundraising strategies.
  • Support team members with creating new and modified online giving landing pages, including JustGiving, and establish criteria for directing donations.
  • Support the upload of Alumni data into Raiser’s Edge by collaborating with the Alumni Relations Officer.
  • Generate and prepare in-depth reports to identify new prospective donors and community partners at different giving ranges (Annual Giving to Major Giving) targeting individuals, corporations, foundations, and granting organizations.
  • Produce segmenting mailing and emailing lists for cultivation, solicitation, donor relations, and events.
  • Increase data integrity of Raiser’s Edge, including identifying and resolving data inconsistencies, doing routine maintenance, assisting with improving automation, documenting processes, and supporting/training staff inside and outside of Advancement on their use.
  • Coordinate training for staff on Raiser’s Edge in liaison with Blackbaud, including ongoing training of new features as well as training appropriate staff on any Advancement related software.
  • Monitor and report on pledge receivables and completions, process pledge reminders, and work with Development Officers to alert them to the status of pledges and determine actions going forward.
  • Launch and maintain the Raiser’s Edge NXT Email Communication extension for Advancement staff, including the use of Campaigner by providing training to team members to use the software independently.
  • Collaborate with the Fund Development team by investigating and analyzing prospect information to support donor pipeline by identifying and appropriating giving ranges to ensure best prospects and outcome of solicitations.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in fund development, ideally experience with fundraising database and third-party fundraising tools.
  • CFRE Certification is an asset.
  • Diploma in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Raiser's Edge is an asset.
