Job Description
Savron, a wholly owned subsidiary of Geosyntec, is seeking to hire a Junior Engineering Field Technician / Site Manager based out of Savron’s Cambridge, Ontario office to support the planning, construction, commissioning, and operations of STAR and STARx soil remediation facilities at domestic and international project sites. You will serve as an integral part of our team ensuring our projects are completed safely and successfully. You will develop a technical understanding of Savron’s STAR/STARx technology and gain experience in construction oversight, site management and operations management, among other opportunities.


Within this position, you will serve as a Savron field representative directly leading or supporting the oversight of construction, commissioning and system operations with predefined plans, drawings and procedures at Savron’s project sites. The position also involves management of subcontractors, coordination with Savron engineering and project management teams, as well as other project stake holders. Within this role, you will be expected to perform and oversee troubleshooting and maintenance activities, identify issues via quality assurance plans and operate STAR/STARx process equipment. Office based responsibilities include engineering design, procurement, project management, and R&D project support in preparation for future project opportunities.


The position requires the applicant to be confident, adaptable, and eager to develop their technical skillsets in the realm of construction and industrial processes. Strong communication and leadership skills are required. Candidates must possess a willingness to work outdoors at project sites both domestic and international. The position requires individuals willing to work extended hours which may periodically include weekends and holidays. Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Comprehend and implement construction plans and specifications;
  • Prepare daily field reports & progress reports. Actively communicate with Savron engineer, project management and subcontractor teams;
  • Provide basic data collection and data analysis;
  • Oversee and/or conduct inspections, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on STAR and STARx process equipment;
  • Conduct site assessments, mark outs, QAQC inspections and various other technical support tasks;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant contract and health and safety documents (e.g. technical specifications, sampling plans, health and safety plans etc.);
  • Support engineering, fabrication, or laboratory tasks within Savron’s shop and laboratory facilities; and
  • Travel both domestically and internationally to project sites
  • Assist in system design and procurement, preparation of final data packages, health and safety documents, as-built drawing packages and reports etc.;
  • Oversee and manage site activities including but not limited to construction, commissioning and operations of STAR and STARx remediation facilities;

Education Qualifications And Experience


  • Experience with Windows based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.). (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (required)
  • Valid Canada Passport for business travel and client project needs. (required)
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
  • Outstanding ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously. (required)
  • Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor industrial environments on a regular basis. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, and strong work ethic. (required)
  • Willingness and ability to work occasional overnight shifts and to travel both domestically and internationally to project sites. (required)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of two (2) years of applicable experience or an Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college and the ability to monitor several different types of construction and environmental activities simultaneously. Equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position. (required)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. (required)
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment fabrication drawings. (preferred)
  • Mechanical experience including the use of typical hand tools and power tools. (required)
  • Valid Canada driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation, for business travel. (required)
  • Technical experience in construction services and/or processing plant operations; civil, geotechnical, environmental, process engineering or related engineering disciplines. (preferred)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute rate, ratio, percent, and draw and interpret graphs. (required)
