Job Description

Day-To-Day

Insight Global is looking to stand up a tiger team (2 individuals) for one of our large telecommunications/networking clients. The candidates would be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and provisioning of our client's network equipment and fiber optic cables. These resources will report to a project manager and work at multiple site locations across Eastern Canada (and potentially anywhere across Canada) depending on which bids they win.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Techs must have a working knowledge of the following:
  • Optical power meter
  • Must write detailed daily reports
  • Experienced telecommunications Installer Level 2 - 4
  • Ability to travel extensively across North America, upward of 100% travel
  • Run, test and clean fiber optic cables
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of Telcordia (GR-1275) standards and procedures, or equivalent
  • Handheld OTDR
  • Ability to work on extended periods of time (work assignments could spread over weekends – but within any H&S regulations)
  • Ability to work with a computer and run/install software and follow instructions from Net tech support
  • Standard Install Hand Tools
  • Fiber video scope and cleaning material
  • Knowledge of or work experience with SONET, Transport equipment
  • Ability to lift 40lbs
  • Must retain a state of readiness for quick deployments
  • Basic knowledge of commissioning and provisioning procedures
