Overview A Visiting Professor is an academic professional who is hired to teach at a college or university for a limited period of time. Visiting Professors typically have a PhD or other terminal degree in their field and are hired to teach courses, conduct research, and mentor students. Detailed Job Description Visiting Professors are responsible for teaching courses, conducting research, and mentoring students at a college or university. They are expected to develop and deliver lectures, lead discussions, and assign and grade coursework. Visiting Professors may also be asked to advise students, serve on committees, and participate in departmental activities. They may also be asked to develop and implement new courses and curricula.
