Education/skills acquired at post-secondary level or equivalent, or a combination of education and work experience.

Knowledge of Group Insurance would be an asset but is not required.

Complete Monthly Reports for the department used in the Renewal and Financial Process including reports supporting other Underwriting regions.

Address internal queries via email in a timely and effective manner.

Dedicate time to further enhance personal technical knowledge and niche expertise through networking and engagement with industry resources.

University degree or equivalent insurance experience.

Insurance-related certifications such as CIP or FCIP, and preferably additional certifications like CRM.

Proven experience in applying and implementing underwriting guidelines, best practices, and policy wordings.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

At least three years’ experience in a fast-paced office environment;

Good knowledge of reporting tools such as Excel, Business Objects, WEBI

Assist underwriters in handling all underwriting administration and maintenance of accurate data.

Ensure filing of reinsurance related documentation according to guidelines;

Perform corrections following data quality checks for quarterly closing or renewal preparation as assigned;

Management of underwriting renewal cycle: gather and prep renewal files .

Strong prioritization skills to meet daily demand and deadlines to meet all service requirements.

Special projects and other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum 1 to 3 years of progressive commercial underwriting processing experience

Strong oral and written communication, analytical and computer skills.

Assist underwriters with assembling of financial or technical information as needed to support underwriting review process.

All other duties that maybe assigned by Manager and or underwriters

Enter policy data into various Starr platforms – Salesforce, Camillion, Lynx, Risk Decisioner, RMS, Ice, etc.

Preparing policy wordings and endorsements as required

Obtain renewal information from brokers, prepare file for underwriter

Liaise with various HO departments

Set up new policy documents and maintain integrity of files, e-filing.

Using lean management concepts and methodology, identify areas for continuous improvement and implement using problem solving activities

Support compliance oversight and risk management

Monitor and support risk management and associated controls for the Underwriting functions

Strong analytical and decision making skills (Tableau knowledge an asset)

Manage workload and priorities while promoting teamwork and a positive environment

Develop and implement strategies and processes to improve underwriting efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience

Continuously improve your knowledge in group benefits in the changing environment

Post-secondary education in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business Admin, Data Science, or related fields

Maintain a full understanding of the group insurance markets, funding alternatives, networks and benefit plan options

Working closely with your leader to develop and deliver on pre- and post-renewal strategies, supporting the financial requirement of the client

Establish positive carrier/vendor relationships for the benefit of both clients and People Corporation

Strong working knowledge of group insurance products

Strong organizational, time-management and analytical skills

Accountable for maintenance of team pipeline, adherence to pipeline management process and daily review of pipeline reporting

Adhere to applicable compliance obligations including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing and internal Anti-Fraud Policy requirements

Train, coach and mentor Managers and hold a monthly ‘one on one’ session to discuss individual progress

Stand as the point of escalation for Managers
