Experience in the Food and Beverage Industry considered an asset but is not a requirement.

Work closely with designers, fellow engineers, technical specialists, and project managers to design optimized industrial and commercial facilities;

Evaluate and interpret project requirements in order to develop innovative and good value solutions to clients’ needs;

Act as a project manager when appropriate;

Work under the guidance of the director of engineering to develop design skills and ensure design quality standards are met

Minimum of three years of experience as a certified Professional Engineer;

Review shop drawings for structural requirements, building envelope requirements and compliance with applicable codes, standards and best practices.

Testing of products and materials in accordance with standards, to meet code requirements.

Experience reading and interpreting structural, architectural drawings, specifications, and other projects documents.

7+ years of experience specifically related to design and analysis of buildings.

5+ years of experience stamping drawings and technical works.

Solid knowledge of Canadian Building codes and CAN/CSA S136 standard.

Assist project managers by providing input to proposals and preparation of specifications and bid documents and construction reviews.

Experience with ETABS or similar structural analysis software.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a high level of accuracy in calculations and design.

Superior verbal and written communication skills.

Interpretation of Geotechnical Reports and Topographical studies to perform various types of foundation design.

Coordination of design team activities, direct internal and external project team including drafting techs, sub-consultants, and sub-contractors

Analysis and design of various structures such as bridges, marine structures, cofferdams and retaining walls.

Sound working knowledge of structural analysis tools and software such as S-Frame.

Construction and erection engineering for heavy civil/structural projects.

Carry out preliminary design option analysis and selection.

Preparation of designs, drawings and technical specifications.

Demonstrate having experience in structural design of various concrete and steel structures and shoring systems.

5 to 10 years of diverse structural engineering experience that includes water, wastewater and process-driven facilities and transit facilities. (Mandatory)

Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Strong digital literacy including experience in structural analysis and design software (SAP 2000, ETABS, SAFE and ROBOT), AutoCAD, and MS Office.

Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Excellent report and proposal writing skills.

Five (5) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities

Four (4) year University Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Specialty) or related discipline

Completion of Professional Engineer (P.Eng) Licence from the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)

Eligibility for and willingness to obtain Registered Building Official with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing
