The Position:

Centra is currently seeking a dynamic and skilled Structural Engineer who is passionate about engineering and safety. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with building codes, conducting engineering calculations and field reviews, and developing appropriate engineering schedules. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Centra's engineering standards while fostering a commitment to excellence in construction and customer satisfaction.

Core accountabilities:

• Foster open communication and collaboration with service, manufacturing, installations, engineering, and logistics teams based on feedback.
• Ask questions, take notes, and verify information to ensure clarity.
• Embrace transparency, teamwork, and collective success as non-negotiable values.
• Review building codes and engineering advisories to effectively manage Centra's risk exposure.
• Prioritize safety as the primary focus when considering the engineering of Centra products for integration with the building envelope.
• Participate in ongoing technical and non-technical training provided by Centra.
• Maintain project priorities and timelines to ensure efficient task management.
• Engage with consultants, general contractors, and trades to discuss technical scope.
• Stay updated on the latest code changes and relevant advisories and share knowledge with the team.
• Identify and address safety risks and near misses during site visits and in the Centra plant.
• Maintain frequent, thorough, and respectful communication with the Centra team and customers.
• Ensure relevant and timely documentation in accordance with document control procedures.
• Prioritize accuracy over speed in engineering design work.
• Provide feedback on existing processes and actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement in engineering design.
• Hold stakeholders accountable to manage scope creep and prevent cost increases.

Qualifications:

• Understanding of NAFS, ASTM, and building code requirements.
• P.Eng required
• Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• Background in the production of PVC windows and doors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a high proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent presentation and training skills.
• Structural design background is desirable but not mandatory.
• Experience in the Canadian construction industry is an asset.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Desirable qualifications include experience in window and door manufacturing.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
