Manage and prepare pension and benefit related reporting

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as they pertain to the pension and benefit programs

Conduct employee education sessions related to benefits and pension

Provide guidance and leadership to Benefit Administrator

Manage relationships with several assigned employers to develop strong working relationships by responding to questions and providing day-to-day technical support

Plan and participate in structured education and training sessions for Employers

A quick learner with experience processing and completing transaction activities including terminations, retirements, deaths, transfers, service purchases (buybacks) and pension estimates

Experience with processing year-end statement activities

Proficiency in both English and French

Ensure the sustainability and appropriate management of data and solutions by working closely with HR Systems and Payroll

Propose program improvements to management based on industry trends and employee needs

Support management's decision-making process by analyzing pension expenditures, predicting future costs, and leveraging data resources to provide analyses

Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of Retirement & Savings Program Specialists, overseeing their daily responsibilities and handling complex issues

Collaborate with the Pension Committee, Pension Investment Committee, and Finance & Treasury departments

Oversee the administration, funding, and financial status of legacy defined benefit plans, deferred profit sharing programs, and other pension schemes/arrangements

Work experience with defined benefit pension plans is a strong asset

Calculate pension benefits and prepare statements resulting from various events (termination of employment, retirement, death, divorce, transfer, etc.);

Strong analytical and organization skills with high attention to detail

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Review the project requirements to ensure completeness of requirements from a testing perspective

Review tests for correctness and comprehensiveness to ensure meet project requirements

Monitor any change in requirements, analyze, and translate the changes into test documentation

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, or equivalent work experience in an analytical area

Strong computer skills (Excel, Word)

Business degree with specialization in human resources management or human resources certificate/diploma

Strong ability set priorities, manage multiple tasks, follow-up and allocate time

Ensures accuracy of pension plan contributions and disbursements including payroll deductions, and remittances are made to appropriate trust accounts

Projects financial funds to ensure no shortfalls

Prepares Annual Information Return (AIR) for the plan

Ensures delivery of annual pension statements

Minimum of a College Diploma with requisite experience in software testing environments

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Works closely with developers, either CAAT staff, CPAS or contract to help articulate requirements. Tests all updates as they are delivered

Ensures collective agreement changes are processed timely and accurately. Payroll analysis and reporting.

Participate in processing of pension benefit calculations in accordance with the pension plan text and regulatory requirements

Time Management – efficiently and accurately complete a large volume of quality work

Experience with defined benefit and defined contributions pension plans preferred but not required

Post-secondary education preferred, preferably in finance related area

Prepare, verify and file tax and other legislative and regulatory requirements (AIRs,T4As, PAs, PSPAs, PARs)

Communicate with members, employers, union representatives, plan actuaries and custodians regarding benefit entitlements; administration procedures and interpretations of plan provisions

Contribute to the plan management team for a national multi-employer pension plan

Work collaboratively with various internal plan management teams and with external stakeholders, including service providers such as consultants and auditors

University degree or equivalent experience

Experience in a pension plan environment would be a significant asset

An understanding of Canadian corporate governance practices and procedures, experience with Canadian pension plan governance preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
