Job Description

Our Client

Responsibilities

  • Support management's decision-making process by analyzing pension expenditures, predicting future costs, and leveraging data resources to provide analyses
  • Oversee the administration, funding, and financial status of legacy defined benefit plans, deferred profit sharing programs, and other pension schemes/arrangements
  • Collaborate with the Pension Committee, Pension Investment Committee, and Finance & Treasury departments
  • Review escalated issues with third-party administrators and evaluate contract language to determine the best course of action for issue resolution
  • Ensure the sustainability and appropriate management of data and solutions by working closely with HR Systems and Payroll
  • Ensure program compliance by closely collaborating with pension consultants, vendors, and external legal counsel
  • Achieve financial objectives by creating pension budgets, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of Retirement & Savings Program Specialists, overseeing their daily responsibilities and handling complex issues
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources department to deliver effective leadership, customer service, and guidance across the organization regarding pension and savings programs
  • Develop communication materials for teammates, HR teams, and store administrators
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as vendors, to design, implement, and improve plan provisions within Sobeys HR Information Systems and payroll systems, including integrations with external systems
  • Collaborate with external and internal resources to improve communication and access options for pension and savings programs
  • Monitor and recommend changes to pension and savings program design to ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation
  • Manage the integration of pensions from newly acquired entities to ensure a seamless transition of employees into the corporate/franchise group plan
  • Propose program improvements to management based on industry trends and employee needs
  • Administer all company-sponsored pension and savings plans



Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • CEBS and CHRP Designation is preferred
  • Experience with pension and savings program vendors and systems, such as but not limited to, insurance providers, third party benefits administrators, SAP/ Success Factors, Ceridian and Payroll systems
  • Firm understanding of pension and savings legislation
  • Undergraduate Degree and minimum 8 years if experience in large pension plans
