Develop and grow accessible programming for Black youth, youth with disabilities, new immigrants etc through partnership with community organizations.

Develop and implement the Indigenous engagement strategy, development materials that reach education leaders and families across BC.

Responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Geering Up Outreach programs and services.

Develop, implement and evaluate administrative policies, procedures, and practices for the efficient operation and administration of Geering Up InSTEM Programs.

Develop staff training initiatives to ensure effective orientation, team building, ongoing development and retention of staff.

Maintain a positive, healthy, and safe work environment that encourages diversity and people engagement.

Related work experience in northern communities.

Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience with government Indigenous consultation in Alberta.

Experience with forest harvest planning in Alberta.

Recruits Indigenous mentors from UBC and other post-secondary institutions within British Columbia.

Develops partnerships with other units, both within and outside of UBC, that support Indigenous students.

Proven people management, relationship building and leadership skills

Deliver industry and technical expertise in audit and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and high-quality deliverables

Strong understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles

4 to 6 years of relevant public accounting experience

Experience working with First Nations Communities is considered an asset

Lead client facing engagement teams to complete audits, compliance tax engagements, budgeting, internal controls and financial/accounting transactions

Identifies opportunities, risks and applies political acuity and relationship management skills relating to indigenous relations

Oversees the procurement of services including defining requirements, evaluation of submissions and management of contractors.

Demonstrated and progressively senior experience developing, planning and executing, strategic indigenous relations programs and activities, including issues management.

Experience managing and directing a business unit through subordinate managers and senior leadership skills

Relationship & stakeholder management skills to engage, cultivate, and manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders

Cultivates and manages critical relationships with First Nations leaders to ensure their requirements and concerns are addressed

Requires knowledge of business administration or Indigenous or Environmental studies to support the work undertaken in the Indigenous Relations.

Requires experience with Indigenous communities, in the preparation of material for publication, documentation or other program activities.

A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.

Monitor and report on the implementation of the IR strategy and project plans.

Perform other duties as required.

Requires an understanding of Indigenous issues, provincial and federal policies.

Experience preparing and incorporating Indigenous Knowledge and land use studies to meet regulatory requirements and on community-based monitoring and other projects.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments at one time, deliver on time and within budget.

Relevant experience conducting and providing input to EIAs or related studies.

Has a minimum of 5-10 years related job experience with an Indigenous relations focus

Has defined experience leading practices, policies, processes and evaluation tools

Attend and participate in community celebrations and events as required

Oversee policy advice to Travel Alberta’s executive and senior staff and enhances the development of relationships with Indigenous communities

Proactively scan the market for best practices and trends in Indigenous Relations in tourism

Displays comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach team members on these skills.

Computer literacy with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, project management and database applications.

Participate in establishment of project team by gathering input from stakeholders, identifying needs and skills required, making staffing recommendations and/or decisions.

Excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment including ability to communicate with the physician community.

Post-secondary degree in public administration, Indigenous studies, environmental studies, resource management, or a related field, plus minimum five years of experience

Strong budget management/forecasting; human resource skills including planning; and the ability to develop workplans

Oversee management of Intergovernmental Relations Coordinator

A knowledgeable manager who understands BC First Nations relations and environmental issues
