Gis Data Technician Jobs in Alberta

Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work independently or within project teams of various sizes

Minimum one year with ArcGIS experience and hands-on experience with geospatial analysis and applied GIS-based tools

Interpret and map human footprint from satellite imagery and GIS layers

Ability to investigate and apply emerging GIS-based approaches to improve the work quality and solutions

Coordinate and undertake quality assurance and quality control on work prior to passing it on as required

Summarize and export GIS information as required for analyses and distributing output information

Certification in data, process or business analysis, project management, or a related field is an asset.

Apply knowledge of NorQuest programs to understand what data is inaccurate or requires investigation for corrections.

Regularly run corrective audits to maintain correct information in preparation for yearly LERS reporting to Advanced Education.

3+ years experience in a related role in a post-secondary environment.

A combination of eduction and directly related experience may be considered.

Experience using a student information system (PeopleSoft preferred).

This position reports directly to the Manager of Engineering and key responsibilities include:

Assists in the design of individual supply circuits for service installations and line changes to accommodate service requirements.

Knowledge of ArcMap GIS and ESRI Products.

General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Must have excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Manage and maintain system files and data to the required standards.

Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology, GIS Technology, or equivalent related courses and experience, from a recognized technical institute.

Knowledge of industry standards and procedures.

Familiarity with the project process and the ability to effectively manage information from various sources.

Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills along with the ability to express thoughts clearly both verbally and in writing.

Update data in GIS on as-built documents, engineering drawings and information submitted by various internal and external groups.

Support the finance, business development and marketing teams in portfolio tracking and marketing

Experience in GIS Analyst and/or Geoscience Technologist roles

Strong Microsoft office and advanced Excel skills

Experience with some or all of PostgreSQL, LucidLink, Prism (Enverus) AWS, SKUA GOCAD, Geolog, SeisEarth, EPOS, GeoGraphix, QGIS, ARCGIS

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities, functional backgrounds, and senior level staff

Be able to work both in person and remote
