Performs meal service as required relating to beverage and meal service, plating of food, clearing and cleaning of dining rooms etc.

Assists residents with menu selection as required and serves food and beverages to residents in designated areas

Responsible for the setting, clearing, cleaning, and sanitizing of resident dining and service areas

Collects and strips trays for dish washing

Conveys residents’ complaints to Dietary Supervisor

Knowledge and skills in food safety, healthy cooking and nutrition

Experience working with volunteers and supervisory skills an asset

Manage food costs and inventory

Develop, implement, and evaluate programs to improve the food skills, food literacy and confidence of Stepping Stones Crisis Society Clientele.

Plan and implement community food programs for targeted participant groups, including kitchen coordination, food handling, cooking classes and nutrition education.

Manage program budgets and provide monthly reports.

Other combination of education and experience may be considered

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, Outlook/Email, Electronic Menu Management program and online training

Demonstrated ability to develop skills and knowledge in self and staff, based on learning and communicating best practices

Bachelor degree with major in Nutrition Sciences or relevant education in Nutrition & Food Services

Knowledge and understanding of therapeutic and modified texture diets

Previous Food Services experience in a healthcare environment preferred

Food Service Worker Certificate preferred

Minimum of one (2) year experience with restaurant or home-cooking

Leadership experience in food services is required

Comprehensive food services knowledge, including focus on quality, production, sanitation, and presentation

Recent experience as a Clerk in a fast paced environment required

Previous experience in a hospital environment an asset

Must have working knowledge of Med Dietary software, CBord and Acute Care therapeutic diets

Participates in development and delivery of training and performance management and may participate in staff selection.

Thorough knowledge of the equipment, methods and procedures employed in the preparation, cooking, and distribution of food in a large institution.

Good knowledge of modern methods, materials and appliances used in a large-scale food preparation and service.

Supervises production and distribution of food in a large kitchen-dining facility in two or more smaller facilities.

Prepares timetables, work schedules, cleaning schedules or coordinates their preparation.

Participates in development of sanitation, security and safety standards and ensures implementation of standards established.

Previous experience supervising staff preferred

Previous experience of agriculture, gardening, landscaping preferred

Provide leadership to and ensures completion of food preparation, cooking, serving, and delivering snacks; assists supervisor with menu planning

Responsible for providing food which is attractive, balanced, and age appropriate

Provide friendly, prompt customer service

Assist in the washing of dishes and food packaging containers
