Manage, maintain, and execute the Food Safety Management Systems of the NFGA and NCC and their related SOPs

Support growers in their on-farm food safety programs, including CanadaGAP certification

B.SC in Food Science or equivalent combination of academic and professional experience.

Must have a moderate to high level of computer skills, including data analysis and report writing of recommendations for corrective actions.

Maintains the quality and food safety documentation up to date at plant level, including product specifications and formulas.

Plan and execute the tests and controls mandated through our Quality System.

Provide support to the plant team on continuous improvement projects, following up on corrective actions and customer requests.

Prepare and continue maintaining Key Performance Indicator trend reports.

Practical and theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on experience with conducting safety management system audits.

Experience in developing, implementing and improving safety management systems and processes.

Proven analytical, data/information management to create Executive Summaries and creative thinking skills

Ensure our operating locations’ risk management practices and safety cultures are in line with corporate goals.

Deliver training and education programs to varying audience levels

Build safety awareness and advance the organization’s safety culture through information campaigns, training and education.

Strong experience with HACCP, GMPs, animal care practices, regulatory submissions, SFCR documentation, and other relevant management systems.

Experience with crisis management, recall processes, ethical sourcing audits, regulatory inspections, and SFCR assessments.

Provide guidance, training, and performance management to ensure team members are equipped to meet their objectives.

Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., BRC/GFSI), animal welfare certifications, CFIA regulations, SFCR requirements, and customer-specific mandates.

Ensure alignment with industry best practices, evolving regulatory requirements, SFCR, and animal welfare standards.

In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, animal welfare principles, ethical sourcing practices, CFIA regulations, and the SFCR.

Full Time Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager

·Maintain customer databases to ensure compliance with specifications and certifications (i.e., Azzule, Loblaw Vendor Portal, The Hub).

·HACCP certification and SQF Practitioner are required, Preventative Control Qualified Individual (PCQI) would be an asset.

·Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance, GFSI Schemes, Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA).

·Leadership skills for managing and mentoring employees

·Possess strong computer skills including fluency in Microsoft Office

Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a Quality Assurance role ideally within the Life Sciences industry is required.

Experience in reviewing and approving controlled documents.
