Overview An Ecologist is a scientist who studies the relationships between living organisms and their environment. They study the structure and function of ecosystems, the interactions between organisms, and the effects of human activities on the environment. Ecologists may work in a variety of settings, including universities, government agencies, and private companies. Detailed Job Description An Ecologist is responsible for studying the interactions between living organisms and their environment. This includes studying the structure and function of ecosystems, the interactions between organisms, and the effects of human activities on the environment. Ecologists may conduct field research, laboratory experiments, and data analysis to understand the dynamics of ecosystems. They may also develop and implement conservation plans to protect and restore ecosystems. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of ecology, biology, and environmental science
