Job Description
The Position
We are currently seeking a Restoration Ecologist to join our team based out of our Whitecourt office. This is a full-time permanent position that is focused on inventory, assessments and ecological restoration. The inventory and assessment of remote data sets including forest inventory, ecological site assessments, wildlife inventories, and roadway/stream crossing assessments. This data is used to aid in the development of spatial solutions for our clients. Project work is remote, team based, safety driven and is completed for the energy and forest sectors throughout the province.
Position Accountabilities
  • Manage project deliverables and working relationships with Woodlands’ peers, management and clients;
  • Initiate, develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives and best practices;
  • This position is accountable for safe and efficient project work;
  • Assist the Operation Manager with the scheduling and management of projects.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
  • University Degree or technical diploma is required in Environmental, Earth Science, Forestry, Biology or Engineering;
  • Minimum experience of 2 years;
  • Ability to maintain a valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract;
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate a safety and customer service focus.
  • Ability to lead by example and motivate a team;
  • Ability to move a variety of initiatives forward at the same time;
  • Knowledgeable in current restoration best management practices for watercourse and watershed restoration as well as terrestrial habitat restoration of linear features such as legacy roads and seismic;
  • Professional registration or eligibility in one of Alberta’s Professional Regulatory Organizations;
