Overview
If you are looking for exciting, professionally challenging work in Labour Relations that supports the delivery of some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in British Columbia, these opportunities will be of interest to you.
TI Corp’s Major Projects Labour Agreements (MPLA) team is responsible for labour agreement development, contract oversight, risk management and mitigation as it relates to British Columbia’s Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) transportation projects, Project Labour Agreements (PLA) projects, and other projects in development. The team ensures the commitment and alignment to the Environment, Social and Governance Framework through engagement activities and issues management.
You will work with a close-knit, dedicated team to lead the development of new project labour agreements and manage their ongoing success through implementation.
TI Corp is currently seeking candidates who qualify for a range of roles at different levels, specific qualifications will vary. Please provide an overview of your qualifications, using the below as a guide.
- The Director role will require more of the qualifications and minimum 10 years experience.
- The Senior Project Manager role will require at least 5 years experience.
- The Coordinator role will require minimum 1 year experience.
Key Accountabilities
Director Role
- Advises on opportunities for continual improvement within the Corporate function, including opportunities related to data collection, standardization, and others.
- Directs and manages internal projects and/or strategic initiatives in support of one or more major capital projects and the organization’s corporate function.
- Oversees the development of internal reports to Executive Team with the focus on data integrity and validation and make recommendations to project teams and executives as required.
- Leads BCIB interface on all CBA projects including supporting construction, labour supply and senior staff meetings.
- Collaborates with and fosters strong, productive, and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the corporate mandate and identify and manage risks.
- Provides labour agreement expertise and advisory services in support of major project teams.
- Explores and support other labour agreements that need to be developed.
- Leads consultation and education sessions with internal stakeholders and develops, implements and oversees plans in support of ESG goals and objectives.
Senior Project Manager Role
- Coordinates meetings and prepares materials for the project team, agencies, and special interest groups.
- Summarizes and analyzes the results of formal and informal consultation processes in order to provide recommendations on appropriate strategies to address user needs.
- Collaborates with and fosters strong, productive, and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the corporate mandate and identify and manage risks.
- Lead internal projects and/or strategic initiatives in support of one or more major capital projects and the organization’s corporate function.
- Advise on opportunities for continual improvement within the Corporate function, including opportunities related to data collection, standardization, and others.
- Explore and support other labour agreements that need to be developed.
- Tracks, collates, and prepares documentation and reports with the focus on data integrity and validation and make recommendations to project teams.
Coordinator Role
- Prepares and assists the finalization a variety of documents.
- Prepares appropriate correspondence for signature by the authorized signing authority.
- Tracks project and team activities, monitors team deliverables and reports out on schedule, risks, and changes to the MPLA team.
- Assists the coordination of executive reviews and approvals of deliverables and submissions, as required.
- Develops and maintains a tracking system to ensure all team initiatives, deliverables, communications, reporting and submissions are documented and progressed.
- Receives and reviews project information specific to labour agreements, including submissions and correspondence to monitor, assess, and review for issues and concerns.
- Monitors schedules and deadlines related to deliverables and initiatives, and ensure completion aligns with requirements.
- Lead receiver for quarterly reporting on all projects with a Project Labour Agreement. Responsible for the monitoring of compliance with reporting timelines and compiling data and identifying trends.
- Collate, organize and analyze datasets to prepare trend analysis, summary reports, and otherwise support decision making.
Qualifications
Base Qualifications for all roles – varying levels of experience will be considered:
- Degree or post-secondary education in Business Administration, Public Administration or Communications and significant related experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working for a Federal, Provincial, or local government.
- Preference may be given to candidates with the following experience:
- Working in infrastructure construction and/or major project delivery.
- Comfort with and ability to hold others accountable, even those not in a formal reporting relationship
- Exceptional communication skills, ability to build and maintain strong relationships with excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to handle the demands of a fast-paced office with deadline pressures.
- Ability to work independently.
More senior positions will be expected to have additional qualifications as follows:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and methodologies of project management and contract management.
- Sound judgement, excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and prioritizing skills to anticipate and assess situations and/or incidents and determine best solution or course of action.
- Ability to liaise between team members and ensure a project team is engaged and focused on delivering assignments efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional relationship, negotiation, communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills with experience in stakeholder partnership and issue management.
- Skilled ability to manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts.
- Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies and procedures, and contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
