Job Description
On behalf of our client, Procom is currently seeking a Technical Writer.


Technical Writer Job Details:


  • Utilize the Provinces SharePoint document management and storage system for all documentation.
  • Provide bi-weekly progress reports and documentation to the requisition owner(s).
  • Intellectual Property – Including Copyright a) All government employees (includes contractors) must perform their duties in compliance with the Copyright Act. It is the responsibility of deputy ministers to ensure that their employees are aware of the applicable provisions of the Copyright Act, which pertain to making copies of Works (as defined in the Copyright Act), whether in paper or electronic format. A notice provided by the Intellectual Property Program must be prominently affixed on or near all government-operated photocopiers. The Intellectual Property Program is responsible for providing information to ministries regarding the Province’s copyright policies, including employees’ responsibilities under the Copyright Act.
  • The province will be the owner of record for all documents created under this contract as per the following:
  • Utilize standard Microsoft 365 Office suite of products in the creation of documents (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or compatible format.


b) The Province’s intellectual property must be protected during its development and life span.


c) Ministries must ensure that materials are developed (whether by employees or by Contractors) solely to meet the program needs of government, rather than to create marketable products.


d) Unless there is a written agreement to the contrary, including terms of a collective agreement, the copyright in any Work that has been created by the Province's employees in the course of their employment belongs to the Province.


e) Unless a ministry's legal counsel approves an exception, a ministry must not alter the language in the Contract Templates regarding intellectual property.


f) Provincial ownership of the copyright in any Work means that the copyright belongs to the Province as a whole and not to individual ministries or any other central agencies.


Technical Writer Mandatory Skills:


b) Minimum of 2 years of experience creating workflow or flow chart diagrams for an IT Enterprise Organization, knowledge of conducting user acceptance testing and working knowledge of information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) framework to ensure documentation aligns with our enterprise key goals to streamline IT service processes.


b) Ability to attend working sessions during business hours (PST) (between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00) using MS Teams and or in person to gather information and conduct interviews;


c) Identify audiences for documents and structure the documents appropriately;


d) Interview subject matter experts, analyst(s), technical engineers, developers, business analysts, project managers and any other resources for input to scope and organization of materials;


e) Review project deliverables (documents) for:


  • Grammar and punctuation enhance readability and comprehension; and
  • Organization of document is appropriate to subject matter
  • Tone and level of complexity are suitable for audience, and


f) Perform copy edit on requested documentation


g) Excellent oral and written skills in English


h) Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office


  • Experience working with Service Now (ITSM Software Solution)
  • Certification in the computer science field; or
  • Experience or certification in ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library)
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Diploma in the computer science field; or
  • 2 or more years of related work experience; or
