As the Talent Acquisition Coordinator, you will be responsible for using your strong technology skills and process knowledge of talent acquisition and recruiting practices to support the Talent Acquisition Team at Strathcona County. You will support the end-to-end recruitment and hiring process, talent acquisition programs and initiatives and be the focal on reporting and analytics.
Using your strong knowledge of HR policies and procedures, you will work independently, shift and pivot to adapt to an ever-changing work environment and contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement initiatives across the team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and engaged team and play a key role in supporting Strathcona County’s Talent Acquisition Team.
Responsibilities
- Work within the applicant tracking system (Oracle) to assist the talent acquisition team with resume screening, phone screening, offer letters, follow up etc.
- Update and maintain sourcing/job board database
- Research and develop alternative sourcing methods. Post jobs to other identified sources (in a timely manner), including various social media channels to increase available quality candidate pool
- Support the Talent Acquisition team by building and managing talent pipelines for administrative, technical and/or hard-to fill positions within Oracle
- Applicant tracking troubleshooting and training as required. Provide assistance to candidates with questions about the application process, how to upload documents, sign offer letters etc. in Oracle, and respond to general employment inquiries
- Coordinate campus program activities, including job postings, career fairs, information sessions etc.
- Compile data for talent acquisition reporting, create and manage recruitment dashboards/metrics
- Schedule interviews for the talent acquisition team and hiring managers (online or in-person), ensuring that the interview teams have the appropriate information. Create a positive candidate experience when interacting with candidates at all levels
- Track job board accounts and job board effectiveness
- Utilize campaigns (social media, email, universities) to attract and encourage candidate applications to support the Talent Acquisition team’s hiring process
- Develop training tools for Oracle recruitment users (Recruiters, HR, hiring managers)
- Organize and administer candidate assessments and ensure appropriate follow up
- Facilitate pre-hire activities, including educational verification and background checks
- Assist in the development of recruitment tools, including pre-screening and interview guides, job advertisements, interview tools, training documentation etc.
- Conduct reference checks

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate and present data

- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required to manage interview schedules, research recruitment sources, understand advertising requirements, conduct research
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, negotiate priorities on short notice and promptly adapt to an ever- changing work environment
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, the ability to provide a high level of customer service to the public, County employees and the department
- Ability to collaborate with, liaise with and support various stakeholders
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and work with a high degree of discretion and tact in handling confidential matters
- Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, maintains a positive frame of mind and sets an example of professionalism for other employees
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and anticipate needs and work under pressure within strict timelines
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and solve problems
Qualifications
- Experience with Applicant tracking systems is preferred
- Strong computer skills and technical aptitude with the ability to operate in multiple systems, including HRIS (Oracle), Excel (advanced), SharePoint etc.
- In-depth knowledge of HR policies, staffing processes and procedures, employment terms and conditions and talent acquisition practices
- Completion of a diploma in Human Resources, Business, Management or equivalent, plus 1+ year of progressive related experience
Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
