Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manager, Sport Development & Customer Service Centre, the successful candidate is responsible for the supervision of sport facility bookings and sport league operations city wide. The position will assist with the execution of the Arena and Outdoor Sport Field Allocation Policies and works with sport groups year round. The successful candidate is responsible for the development, operation and supervision of identified city-wide sports leagues, to meet the needs of all age groups, skill levels and diversity of participants.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Successful Candidate Will
  • Oversee the facility allocation of all city sport facilities including arena, indoor and outdoor sport field bookings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise league convenors, officials and timekeepers.
  • Identify community needs in relation to sports leagues and provide recommendations to senior management for city-wide league service delivery.
  • Builds strategic alliances and multi-agency partnerships to build sport infrastructure and organizational capacity in the community
  • Liaise with related Provincial, Regional and local sport organizations ensuring that industry standards and sanctioning expectations are adhered to.
  • Provide exceptional customer service experiences to all internal and external customers, maintaining established service levels.
  • Assist in the management of long-term sport strategy projects including the development of work plans, identification of short and long-term objectives and strategies, timelines, budgets, deliverables and performance measurement indicators
  • Attend meetings and league play at various City and non-City facilities.
  • Recommend and maintain an annual operating budget and all required monthly financial and performance reporting.
  • Develop and implement procedures, processes and corporate policies that mitigate risk and protect corporate assets.
  • Organize, administer and supervise the city-wide portfolio of sports leagues and tournaments at City and non-City facilities. Sports will include but are not limited to: Adult Soccer, Youth Soccer & Adult Hockey.
Note: The successful candidate will work a varied and flexible schedule as required for program supervision.
Skills And Qualifications
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter with excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Degree or diploma in Recreation, Sport Management or equivalent with a minimum of five years related experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience with recreation sport league management/delivery, league/tournament format scheduling, customer service, and budget management necessary.
  • 5 years’ experience in a recreation supervisory customer service capacity, with demonstrated successful experience building strong relationships with sports organizations.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), Recreation Management Software (CLASS, ActiveNet), Sports League Software (EZ Leagues, Pointstreak, etc), SAP CATS, and R/3.
  • Demonstrated successful experience managing sports leagues and/or major sport tournaments is a definite asset.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $46.79 - $62.39 (Based on Salary Grade F $85,155 - $113,541)
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
