Primary Purpose
As a Student Experience Manager at University of Niagara Falls Canada, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that students have a positive and enriching academic and personal journey during their time at UNFC. You will be responsible for creating and implementing strategies to enhance the overall student experience, promoting engagement, satisfaction, and retention. You will work closely with students, faculty, staff, and various departments to develop and maintain programs and initiatives that support student success and well-being.
Specific Responsibilities
The Student Experience Manager position is responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support students in alignment with the mission and vision of the University:
Student Engagement:
• Develop and implement initiatives to promote student engagement and foster a sense of belonging within the university community.
• Plan and coordinate co-curricular activities, events, and programs that enhance the overall student experience.
• Collaborate with student organizations and societies to support their activities and initiatives.
• Encourage student participation in campus life and create opportunities for leadership and personal development.
Academic Support:
• Collaborate with faculty and other academic advisors to develop resources and programs that support students' academic success.
• Organize workshops and seminars on study skills, time management, and other relevant topics. • Identify and address barriers to student learning and success, providing guidance and referral services as needed.
• Collect and analyze data on student academic performance and implement strategies for improvement.
Student Services and Support:
• Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive student services, including orientation programs, counseling, wellness, health services, and career guidance.
• Serve as a point of contact for students with concerns or grievances, advising students on the paths available to them to address and resolve their complaints, and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
• Collaborate with other university departments to streamline administrative processes and ensure efficient delivery of services to students.
• Monitor and assess the effectiveness of student services and make recommendations for improvement.
Communication and Collaboration:
• Foster effective communication channels between students, faculty, and staff to address student needs and concerns.
• Collaborate with various university departments, including admissions, marketing, and career services, to enhance the student experience.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as local businesses, community organizations, and alumni, to provide additional resources and opportunities for students.
Assessment and Evaluation:
• Implement systems to collect and analyze student feedback on their experiences, incorporating their input into program development and improvement.
• Monitor student satisfaction levels and identify areas for enhancement in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Conduct research and stay up to date with best practices in student affairs and higher education to ensure continuous improvement of the student experience.
Competencies
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred).
• Previous experience in student affairs, student services, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of student development and best practices in student engagement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
• Knowledge of relevant legal and ethical issues in higher education.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for student success, well-being, and creating a positive educational environment.
