About Our Client
Our Client is an engineering consulting firm in Sudbury Ontario providing professional structural, mechanical, as well as design and simulation services. To compliment our engineering services, our client also provides laser scanning and other specialized measurement services for all applications and industries as required. Our Client is dedicated to working alongside its clients to develop practical solutions to their engineering challenges. Collectively, the founders have 54 years of experience providing these services for surface plants and underground mines and have grown to be considered leaders within the region.
The Role

Our client prides itself in using cutting edge software and hardware to provide its clients with top-level deliverables setting new standards for the consulting engineering field. As part of the team, the successful applicant will create various structural/mechanical designs using both 2D and 3D Autodesk CAD software. Experience and willingness to work with point cloud data is a significant asset.
Key Responsibilities
· Work with the team of engineers and designers to develop and deliver solutions to clients.
· Produce 3D designs and drawings with minimum supervision.
· Design using Microstation.
· Design using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD as needed.
· Check drawings (both fabrication and engineering) for correct content and accuracy.
· Utilization of point cloud data to create designs and extract measurements.
· Operate scanning equipment in construction and heavy industrial settings.
· Help track and monitor project progress and adhering to budgets.
· Communicate effectively with clients and suppliers as required.
· Identify opportunities to improve our ability to meet and exceed client expectations.
· Able to constructively critique and review designs.
· Willing to help train and develop junior employees.
About you/Qualifications
· Minimum of a Diploma in civil, structural, mechanical engineering technology program.
· 5-10 years of relevant experience, preferably in an engineering consulting environment.
· Experienced using Bentley Microstation and/or Powerdraft & Autodesk AutoCAD.
· Design experience using Inventor. Other 3D design platforms will be considered.
· Proven capability of efficiently producing engineering and fabrication drawings.
· Experienced in monitoring and adhering to project budgets and timelines.
· Experienced at checking drawings is an asset.
· Experienced designing and registering point clouds is an asset.
· Highly proactive with exceptional problem solving/analytical skills.
· Previous management experience an asset.
· Knowledgeable and efficient working with computers.
· Excellent oral & written English skills
· A valid driver’s license
· Travel to project sites as required.
· Self starter who is motivated to be part of and contribute to the growth of the team.
