Position Summary


Who Are We Looking for?


Do you have front-line clerical experience and wish to work at the leading edge of healthcare to maximize your skills and be part of a dynamic team? We are looking for Casual Staffing Clerks for multiple locations throughout the Interior Health region to join our teams! We have opportunities in the following communities:


  • Vernon
  • Cranbrook
  • Penticton
  • Kelowna
  • Kamloops

What Will You Work On?


Some Typical Duties Will Include


In this role you will work in a customer-focused, team-oriented framework performing staffing, scheduling and payroll clerical functions in a fully automated system.


  • Reception and clerical duties.
  • Reviewing, calculating and editing on call and call back hours;
  • Data entry;
  • Receives and processes on-staff, payroll removal notices and change notices;
  • Allocates and calls in relief staff to fill vacancies;
  • Reviews and audits timekeeping records;
  • Receives and processes requests for vacancy coverage to ensure staff compliment baselines are met;


Shifts of work are rotating Days, Evenings and after hours On-Call.


We are seeking individuals with experience working in a variety of industries willing to bring their transferrable skills to Interior Health. These are casual opportunities. Casual employment means work requirements can vary between Zero and 37.5 hours per week. Casual employees receive 13% of their straight time pay, exclusive of all premiums, in lieu of scheduled vacations and statutory holidays.


Upon completion of 180 hours, there is option of purchasing medical, dental and extended health benefit plans. Once hired into a casual role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent part-time or full time positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual positions and lead to regular employment.
