Sr. Qa & Testing Engineer

About the Role

We use a wide range of data and intelligence to achieve four objectives:

1. Help insurers identify fraud through integrated advanced analytics and investigations;
2. Uncover trends in the data to enhance and enable cross-insurer investigations coordinated by Équité; and
3. Act as the Quality Advocate and is responsible to ensure the delivery of data quality and QA solutions through testing
4. Lead, develop and implement end to end QA and test data processes, practices, and technologies that support the team using automation

Reporting to the Director, Head of Technology Solutions, the Sr. QA & Testing Engineer requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This role is an individual contributor role, however he/she provides leadership for the overall data quality strategy and metadata management of the Advanced Analytics and Countermeasures platform.l.

Responsibilities

QA Accountabilities:

• Plan effective compliment of automated and exploratory testing
• Establish plans to transfer routine testing into automated testing frameworks to reduce effort and reliance on manual testing
• Establish quality standards (present and long-term strategies), develop and monitor polices and procedures aimed at mitigating risks to systems quality, develop metrics in support of continuous improvement, tracking and reporting
• Lead the development and implementation of QA strategy, testplan and coordinate execution of the detailed test cases which are executed bythe data and infrastructure team
• Ensure quality assurance process adheres to organizations relevant strategies, policies, standards, and guidelines
• Provide recommendations for improvement, introduce and encourage best practices in the area of re-use, test automation, risk management, test strategy, test plan/case creation and execution, defect tracking, etc.

Data Quality Management:

• Ensure physical data (data entity level) has been cataloged(mapped to logical domains and wherever possible physical repositories which are authoritative sources)
• Work with business and IT stakeholders to flag consent-related, sensitive, PII, and critical data elements
• Be a key subject matter expert on the meaning of data in the organization and how it is used
• Develop, maintain, and publish all metadata information including business, technical, operational metadata and data lineage in a repository as well as enhance organization’s metadata management capabilities
• Ensure data quality management process adheres to organizations relevant strategies, policies, standards, and guidelines
• Champion our metadata management journey showing clear benefits of consistent definitions of data across organization
• Ensure all physical repositories of data have been located, documented, and inventoried (mapped to logical domains)
• Design and develop data dictionaries and glossaries using tools and technology
• Lead the discussions to eliminate data definition inconsistencies across members business groups

DQ Rule Design & Implementation:

• Ensure that data quality rules are accurately built using validation tools and develop an in-depth understanding of source systems to further define rules
• Develop, document, execute, and manage data quality rules
• Assess the existing control environment, gather requirements from member business and IT stakeholders, understand the data and structures to design and implement effective data quality monitoring rules
• Investigate root causes of data quality issues and resolve/remediate issues and incidents
• Ensure new data quality requirements are understood and documented effectively

DQ Dashboard & Reporting:

• Develop new dashboards based on member business needs and requirements
• Provide support in communicating DQ findings to relevant stakeholders (data owners)
• Build and enhance existing DQ reporting
• Monitor data quality improvements over time

Qualifications

• SQL, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, DQ tools (IBM Infosphere, Informatica, Talend, etc.), Metadata tools (Collibra, Informatica, etc.)
• Results-focused approach and strong work ethic
• Data Quality, Metadata, Data Warehousing, Data Models/Structures, Data Governance
• Minimum 5+years’ experience with data quality and metadata
• Experience with Test Management Platforms
• Experience managing QA, data quality, metadata, data strategy/integration projects
• Energized by a fast-paced environment
• Experience in QA process and procedure development and enhancement
• Good understanding of P&C insurance and practical experience working with insurance crime/fraud
• Comfortable and excels within remote work environments
• Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, members, colleagues and all levels of management
• University degree in Business Analysis, Information Management Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities
• Ability to drive issues to closure
