Job Purpose

PURPOSE: Dana Incorporated is seeking to fill the position of a Sr. Electrical Engineer on our electric commercial vehicle integration strategy team at our Laval, Canada office.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

The Sr. Electrical Engineer will define detailed specifications and requirements for various low and high voltage components contained within a commercial vehicle. From the specifications, requirements, and knowledge of the vehicle system, you will design the electrical and electronic distribution wiring. You will select the LV and HV fusing, size and select the wire type for each load and system. You will work with other teams to design and develop the interface to the vehicle which will communicate with our internal systems. You will use your knowledge of wire harness design, manufacturing and vehicle assembly to design a connection strategy within the Dana systems.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead and provide hands-on support of special vehicle builds as well as coordination of special orders.
• Understanding of Electronic/Electrical Vehicle Architectures for conventional and BEV vehicles.
• Implement cost savings and assembly process improvement activities.
• Facilitate internal communications between Engineering, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing and Assembly
• Support the team responsible for the detailed design of harnesses and the manufacturing team.
• Experience working with teams in multiple locations.
• Design and release of low and high voltage power and ground distribution, LV and HV connector selection, LV and HV wire type and size selection and fuse selection.
• Complete proof of concept, RFI, RFQ through production manufacturing.
• Experience leading, developing and managing multiple projects.
• Support Advanced Program Quality Planning and Design Review activities.
• Working knowledge and experience of all FMEA principals (design/component/system/process FMEA).
• Define the vehicle architecture and create electrical schematics.

Education And Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Electrical (electro-mechanical) Engineering required.
• Minimum of 6-7 years of experience in automotive or commercial vehicle industry in engineering.

• Experience in drivetrain/powertrain/chassis engineering or related field is a plus
• Experience with battery electric vehicles and/or components a plus
• Commitment to the highest standards of ethical behavior in self and others; commitment to inclusion
• Proficient technical skills Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Excel
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner.
• Ability to be proactive, think forward and able to make decisions independently with appropriate level of consultation/communication.
