Job Title: Sr. Project Manager – Design & Construction
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager with a strong background in commercial construction and renovation projects. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction/renovation projects from initiation to completion. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing timelines and budgets, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality projects within specified parameters. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a deep understanding of the an understanding of the construction process for commercial spaces (both occupied and unoccupied, leased and owned). Responsibilities: Lead and manage commercial construction projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, safety, and quality standards. Collaborate with stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, to develop project plans, review specifications, resolve issues, and ensure project requirements are met. Conduct thorough project feasibility studies, including site analysis, cost estimates, and risk assessments, to determine project viability and provide recommendations. Develop and maintain project schedules, tracking progress, milestones, and dependencies, and proactively identify and address any deviations or delays. Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking expenses, and controlling project costs to ensure financial objectives are met. Coordinate with the IESO’s procurement unit on the bidding, selection, and contract negotiation process with contractors and vendors, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to project specifications. Establish and maintain effective communication channels with project team members, stakeholders, and clients, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies. Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, quality, and safety compliance, identifying and resolving any issues that may impact project objectives. Implement and enforce project safety protocols and ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and permits. Anticipate potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate project disruptions and ensure timely completion. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among project team members. Ensure effective documentation and record-keeping of project activities, including contracts, change orders, submittals, and other project-related documents. Establishes effective and efficient use of the IESO control mechanisms such that major project decisions, such as scope changes, are approved by project sponsors and senior management. Works in compliance with all IESO Project Management methodologies, standards and processes. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus. Proven experience as a Project Manager in commercial renovations, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. In-depth knowledge of commercial renovations and construction processes, including design, permitting, procurement, and construction management. Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to commercial construction projects. Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams towards project goals. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding innovative solutions to project challenges. Proficient in project management software tools, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Professional certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) is required Professional certification as Construction Manager (CM) is an asset. Ability to travel to project sites as required.
