Software Development Interns at Summations work in the Development Team. You will have the opportunity to shape our AI-powered teaching and learning platform and accelerate our pathway to build the next generation of education.

We are looking for versatile engineers who are interested in architecting and implementing elegant software solutions and who thrive with the autonomy to propose creative approaches to problems.

Interns will work remotely, using Meet/Zoom, Slack, Notion, Figma, and email to communicate and work together, both synchronously and asynchronously.

There are three types of software that you may work on, each with its own unique responsibilities:

1. Front-end: This refers to the part of the software that is visible to the user. It includes web pages and React components that users interact with. A front-end developer's job is to create user-friendly interfaces that are intuitive and easy to navigate.
2. Back-end: This is the part of the software that is responsible for storing, retrieving, and manipulating data. It includes database tables, functions, policies, and other components that work behind the scenes to ensure that the software functions correctly. A back-end developer's job is to design and maintain these components, as well as ensure that they are secure and scalable.
3. Middleware: This is the software that sits between the front-end and back-end, acting as a bridge between the two. It includes APIs, edge functions, and other components that help to streamline communication between the two. A middleware developer's job is to ensure that data is passed smoothly between the front-end and back-end and that the software as a whole runs smoothly.

During your internship, you may work on all three of these components.

• 2+ years of software engineering experience (including personal/school experience)
• 6+ months experience in the application of technical skills outside of the classroom (examples: laboratory, research, extracurricular project teams, open source contributions, volunteering, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience)
• 1+ previous technical internship

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL
• NOTE: You do not need to have any of the below qualifications to be considered for this role!
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS
• Experience using GitHub
• Familiarity with Typescript/Javascript
• Familiarity with React, Node.js, and Next.js
• Experience using Supabase
