Job Description
We are a vertically integrated, growing fabricator within the GTA founded in 1947. We are looking Shipping or Material Handler plays a crucial role in the manufacturing and distribution process of goods. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient and accurate movement of materials, products, and supplies within a manufacturing or warehouse facility. They work closely with other team members, such as production operators, warehouse personnel, and logistics coordinators, to facilitate the smooth flow of operations.


Responsibilities:


  • Safety and Compliance: Follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures to prevent accidents or injuries. They may use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to regulatory requirements, such as hazardous material handling protocols.
  • Quality Control: Conduct visual inspections of materials or products to identify any defects, damages, or discrepancies. They report any issues to supervisors or quality assurance teams to maintain high product standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on handling equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any malfunctions or repairs needed.
  • Shipping and Receiving: Coordinate outbound and inbound shipments, including loading and unloading trucks or containers. They may work with shipping carriers or freight forwarders to arrange transportation and ensure timely delivery.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to shipping, receiving, inventory, and material handling activities. They may use computer systems or manual forms to record data.
  • Order Fulfillment: Prepare orders for shipment by picking, packing, and labeling products according to customer requirements. They ensure that the correct items and quantities are packed and prepared for delivery.
  • Material Handling: Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, components, or products. They may use tools such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks to transport materials within the facility.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including tracking quantities, locations, and storage conditions. They may use computerized systems or manual logs to update inventory data.


Qualifications:


  • Basic computer skills to input data, update inventory records, and operate relevant software.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and communicate any issues or concerns.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects or materials.
  • Proficiency in using material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in material handling, logistics, or related fields may be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to material handling and warehouse operations.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in inventory management and order fulfillment.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment is preferred.
