Under the direct supervision of staff, the volunteer may assist with tasks such as:

• Welcome visitors to the Urgent Care and ask if they need to see a doctor. Ask them to sit in the reserved front row brown chairs and have their Manitoba Health card ready. Ask them to remove their jacket if they are wearing one because they will have their blood pressure taken at triage.
• Excellent people and communication skills
• Please approach and welcome each new patient and visitor when they enter the Urgent Care waiting Area. Skills Required:
• Introduce yourself as a volunteer. Ask if there is anything you can do to make them more comfortable.
• Remember to smile; a smile conveys warmth.
• An outgoing personality with comfort in initiating contact with others is strongly desired
• Good command of the English language
• The ability to solve problems in a calm, respectful manner
• Answer non-medical questions for patients and their family members.
• Being a self-starter, with the ability to anticipate and identify the potential needs of the public Skills Gained/Related Careers: Ability to see how an Urgent Care department works. Age: 12 and under, 13-15, 16-17, 18-30, 31-54, 55+ Time Commitment: Daytime , Evening , Weekend Location of volunteer opportunity: Winnipeg
• At the beginning of your shift, approach each patient and visitor in the Urgent Care Waiting Area.
• Seven Oaks Does opportunity require a criminal record check? Yes
• Physical ability to porter (transport) patients in a wheelchair
• Ability to work independently
• Report to Triage or Charge Nurse upon arrival and end of shift

Will cost be reimbursed? Yes Does opportunity require a child abuse registry check? No Opportunity is available to candidates that: Fulfilling volunteer hours for school credit
