Position Description
The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach ENER 560 (Energy Engineering Thermodynamics) in the Fall 2023 term. The course is scheduled to be delivered in-person, and is restricted to students in the Energy Engineering Program.
ENER 560 (Energy Engineering Thermodynamics)
  • Lecture: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 am – 9:50 am MT
  • Lab: Thursday 8:00 am – 9:50 am MT
Course Description:
"Review of the principles of the first and second law of thermodynamics; application to the properties of fluids and solutions; vapour liquid and chemical equilibria; applications such as engine gas cycles including simple gas turbines; gas turbines with reheat, intercooling and heat exchange, heat-pump and refrigeration cycles."
Qualifications:
  • A demonstrated background in the subject matter related to this course.
  • Candidates must have a graduate degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • Applicants should be comfortable teaching in person
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students in an engineering program will be viewed as an asset.
