Senior Water Resources Civil Engineer Calgary, Ab

The ideal candidate will be responsible for civil, hydrotechnical, geotechnical, hydrogeological, environmental and regulatory projects. The candidate will have past experience in an array of water resource and civil engineering projects. This position requires the candidate to visit the Peace Region site for inspection.

Responsibilities:

• Manage client interactions and make sure client needs are met throughout design and reporting processes.
• Lead and empower various professionals and staff.
• Conduct and manage teams based on client requirements - planning, engineering design, construction and financial management deliverables.
• Design and review water, wastewater, storm water and roadway infrastructure.
• Report writing, client liaison and project management of complex infrastructure and asset management solutions.

Requirements

• The candidate has interpersonal skills and can conduct themselves professionally in a business environment, diplomacy skills, listening, and provides guidance and leadership.
• Storm water management software such as XP-SWMM or similar.
• Experience coordinating and planning with architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, street lighting designers, surveyors, and other professionals.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, detail-oriented, organized, hardworking, attention to detail, and an ability to work well in a team environment.
• Comfortable working on a variety of project types in a variety of disciplines.
• Previous experience working for a consulting engineering company in the municipal business sector, as well as experience working in medium to large metropolitan areas.
• Competency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Project) and Bluebeam.
• Experience in application of municipal engineering design standards to design of road works, stormwater management systems, sanitary sewer collection systems and water distribution systems.
• 10+ years leadership experience in municipal and land development.
• Excellent writing skills in the preparation of proposals and technical reports.
• Understanding of design and construction processes in regards to provision of municipal infrastructure for residential, commercial, industrial land development projects.
• Previous experience with Alberta clients and projects.
• Is able to work independently and develop and ameliorate client relationships.
• Experience using Autodesk Civil3D with specific experience with grading tools, surfaces and volumes, corridors, alignments and profiles, pipe and structure networks and turning templates.
• Able to successfully mentor and train co-workers.
• Able to register with APEGA and APEGBC (if required).
• Thorough knowledge of the preparation of tender bid documents (using CCDC format), bid estimating, and contract administration (on behalf of the Owner) throughout the duration of the construction period.
• Knowledge of municipal planning requirements regarding residential and commercial land development initiatives for the South Peace Region.
