Job Description
WATER RESOURCES PRACTITIONER


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and submit all vital data and reports to meet regulatory commitments
  • Communicate data in a clear and understandable format suitable for intended audiences to advise operations, permitting, and water management to gain resolution of any issues or challenges
  • Understand applicable commitments, permits, acts, regulations and associated requirements so appropriate information is considered to inform management decisions and activities
  • You will be required to advise on water resources projects, including flood assessments, flood mapping, flood mitigation designs, hydrotechnical assessments/designs, watershed management, impact assessments, natural channel design, environmental compliance and regulatory permitting;
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal teams and external agencies
  • You will be assigned to various projects involving hydraulic/hydrologic analyses, including design of hydraulic structures, surface water diversions, water control structures, water intakes, pump stations, surface water outlets to rivers, and infrastructure;
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures


Qualifications:


  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Science in an environmental related field
  • RP.Bio or P.Ag designation required
  • Experience working with environmental databases
  • Proficient in environmental data management, analysis, and reporting
  • Minimum five years demonstrated ability providing technical direction on operational water related risks and challenges, associated with resource management
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations related to water quality and quantity, and resource development
  • Technical understanding of water chemistry and experience with risk evaluation related to water quality, quantity, and receptors (aquatic and human health)
  • Project management experience with a track record that includes management and technical direction of environmental projects and budgets
