A growing global finance company is seeking a Senior Systems and Applications Administrator to join their exceptional team! This full-time permanent role will be based out of their Canadian head office in downtown Vancouver and support the Canadian Operations, as well as assist the Global IT Team. More about the role:


The Senior Systems and Applications Administrator is responsible for the reliable, secure, efficient, and effective support and ownership of ICT systems and infrastructure in our Canadian Operations. This is undertaken in conjunction with IT Support peers at our global head office. The Senior Systems and Applications Administrator is responsible for ensuring the ICT network, applications and infrastructure systems are well supported, secure, operating effectively, are cost effective, and meet the requirements of the organisation. While this role primarily supports the Canadian operation, Technology is a global function where every team member supports the needs of our business and customers, regardless of location. As such, you are a team player who naturally takes initiative, and can seamlessly shift from understanding local priorities and keeping the global ‘big picture’ in mind.


This position also assists the Global IT team with support of the day-to-day operations, implementation of enhancements and upgrades to IT infrastructure, and ensuring cost effective and best value IT services are provided to the organisation.


Specifically, this role will include:


  • Triage, prioritise and deliver high-level application and system support services to the business in consultation with internal and external stakeholders, adhering to relevant standards, policies, and procedures. Provide exceptional customer service keeping staff operational with all IT systems.
  • Be the point of contact for IT support in Canada offices, communicating change and interruption clearly and in conjunction with IT stakeholders globally, attending regular meetings with peers to stay abreast of global system wide change.
  • Ensure the IT environment(s) in Canada are operating effectively, minimising downtime, manage change and maintaining high availability to enable the organisation to provide quality outcomes for internal and external customers.
  • Overall responsibility and ownership of IT site management, identifying improvements and working with local teams to identify business priorities and challenges to keep alignment of IT support across all locations.
  • Use your broad technical and support experience will ensure we have a modern, reliable and effective IT foundations from which to grow.
  • Participate in IT projects that support the delivery of IT improvements and upgrades for company applications and systems.
  • Support our core applications to drive increased internal and external customer engagement and positive customer experiences.
  • Identify, mitigate and prevent IT security risks to all IT assets globally within a team of IT Peers, supporting the business through any incidents or change.

Key Qualities Required:


  • Hands-on experience in the following areas:
  • Windows Server and Active Directory Support
  • Lifting, movement and re-location of IT equipment requires basic physical fitness and alignment to workplace health and safety.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities
  • Windows 10 and Office 365 Administration
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, design, plan, execute and evaluates work to time, cost and quality targets.
  • Cisco LAN/WAN Networking, including switching, wireless and firewalls
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours, and in a range of work locations depending on the daily requirements of the role.
  • Excellent problem solving and risk management skills, with the ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a team.
  • Remote Access Technologies
  • Voice / telephony / internet
  • Vendor certifications will be highly regarded
  • A background in IT System Administration and support with location ownership, managing the up-keep and delivery of all aspects of IT for a business.
  • Microsoft technologies (AD, GP, DHCP, MFA, SCCM, ADFS, DFS, Azure, O365, PowerShell)
  • Cloud and on premises infrastructure support
  • Strong desire to learn multiple new systems and explore system functionality/capabilities. Experience with Salesforce highly desirable, but not mandatory.
  • License and cost management
  • Takes initiative to keep skills up to date and maintains an awareness of the industry.
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology is expected, but not mandatory
  • Superior interpersonal, consultative, negotiation, and communications skills to clearly express, influence, and support infrastructure improvements and IT service outcomes. Ability to develop strong customer, vendor, and user relationships.
