Established in 1967, the campus features award-winning architecture, robust community partnerships and a dynamic student environment set amongst 225 acres along the Credit River in Mississauga.Your opportunity:As a Senior Financial Officer, you will be working closely with various departments across UTM to ensurethat business transactions are aligned with general accepted accounting principles and the University'sfinancial policies. You will also be involved in complex financial analysis. You will be bring a strongunderstanding of accounting principles and be able to apply them to various issues. You will also possess superior verbal and written communication skills and a high level of professionalism.Your responsibilities will include:Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisionsForecasting and planning financial activities incorporating budgets with multiple sources of revenue and/or recoveriesMonitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contractsIdentifying and resolving individual financial discrepanciesApplying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirementsOverseeing the financial management of budgets that include strategic planning, analysis and forecastingEssential Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in accounting or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.Minimum five years relevant financial budget and accounting experienceDemonstrated experience with budgets, forecasts and variance analysisExperience dealing with various levels in the organizationStrong ability to identify critical issues and problem solve independentlyExcellent attention to detailAdvanced computer skills: Microsoft Office: Excel (Advanced formula & functions, pivot tables), Word, Power pointExcellent organization and time management skills and ability to prioritize tasksExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSAP experience an assetDemonstrated cost accounting experience an assetTo be successful in this role you will be:AccountableGoal orientedMotivated self-learnerOrganizedTeam player Closing Date: 06/28/2023, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USW Appointment Type: Budget - Term Schedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 15 -- $86,011 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $109,993.
