Senior Financial Analyst, Franchise Accounting

We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our growing Finance team with a large retailer in the GTA. This position will report to the Manager, Operational Accounting and be responsible for franchise accounting, reporting, and business partnering. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who knows how to effectively partner with different business units. This is a hybrid role, requiring coming into our Markham office roughly twice a month.

Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate, manage, and produce franchisee invoices for takeovers, resales, and store renovations performed for franchisees, including preparing initial and final billings and all related reconciliations.
• Review monthly construction accruals, partnering with the Construction team to compare against budget and ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Act as a business partner to multiple departments and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication.
• Review existing processes and continuously seek improvements and efficiences.
• Support production of various reports and analysis for retail activities related to franchisees, including expired goods, percent rent, and promo fund.
• Support the timely production of proforma store analysis, store transfer pricing analysis, and provide historical sales trends to the Franchising department.
• Review all billings to ensure complete accuracy.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals for monthly and quarterly close process.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting
• Large, public company experience, preferably in retail, construction, CPG, or restaurants
• 3-5+ years' experience in corporate accounting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Expert-level Excel skills
• CPA designation
• High attention to detail
• Proven business partnering skills, with the ability to respectfully push back when needed
