This role sits within LBC Tech, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank.

The Information Technologies sector is responsible for the organization's technological development, architecture, security and infrastructure. The group's activities encompass all aspects of system development to create solutions that meet the Bank's existing and future IT needs. The successful candidate will maintain the Data warehouse services through creating, documenting and maintaining the ETL routines. The ideal candidate will have in depth knowledge of data ETL and data warehouse best practices. Experience with Informatica is mandatory.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Warehouse, the incumbent is responsible for the analysis, development, testing and maintenance of the core Business Intelligence components of the bank’s Enterprise Data Warehouse, in collaboration with internal stakeholders, including but not limited to; reports, data extracts, data marts, analytic cubes as well as ad-hoc reporting solutions. He or she will also participate in the analysis, development and implementation of BI solutions needed for marketing campaigns and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).

The current core BI components are based in IBM technology, and include IBM Cognos, IBM Data Manager, IBM Campaign Manager, but additional technologies are being incorporated in such as MicroStrategy and TABLEAU.

Reports to: Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Warehouse

Direct Reports: Team Lead – Business Intelligence Solutions

Indirect Reports: AVP – Head of Data Analytics

Responsibilities :

• Consult with internal business stakeholders to document BI requirements and recommend appropriate BI solutions
• Act as a BI liaison between the internal business stakeholders and the Enterprise Data Warehouse /BI Solution Team
• Complete the development, testing and deployment of BI solutions, as assigned by the BICC Team Lead, including, but not limited to;
• Review requests for BI solutions as required (including Data Extracts, ETL, Analytic Cubes, Reports and Dashboards) and assist the BI Solution Team Lead in estimating the work effort needed for development, testing and deployment of BI solutions

• Participate in the design and development of BI solutions and analytics modelling for corporate initiatives.
• Prepare the functional specifications of the various developments and validate the results in cooperation with teammates and users.
• Support the implementation of the BI solution in production
• Provide complex data analysis and analytical modelling to support the development of advanced/predictive models and relationship marketing campaigns and to help orient strategic decisions, the Bank’s positioning, and program development.
• Develop and test the BI solutions as defined
• Ensure rigorous monitoring of development activities and solutions to ensure compliance with set deadlines and budgets.
• Establish enterprise level BI capabilities both on-prem and in cloud, and enable business to use data and generate business insight.
• Keep updated on all existing and future Enterprise Data Warehouse structures, end-to-end processes and core technologies.
• Help support BI production activities when required
• Develop and maintain any additional required documentation and reference structures (including business rules, best practices, methodologies, etc.) for all BI products for which the business unit is responsible.
• Analyse source data and document the requirements for the requested BI solutions, including any data transformation methodologies as needed
• Create multi-dimensional data sets from the source data to be used in the creation of required BI products
• Support the internal business stakeholders for various business data inquiries.
• Participate actively in deployment, post-implementation monitoring and development of all BI products and related projects.
• Establish and manage enterprise level BI capabilities, both on-prem and in cloud, using existing and future technologies and tools.
• Establish and maintain effective communication with stakeholders and partners of the team and business lines.

Qualifications :

• Extensive knowledge on designing/building analytical models, business semantics, advanced (predictive, prescriptive) analytical models.
• Expert knowledge, skills and experience working on large scale EDW/BI projects and/or operational teams.
• Knowledge, skills and experience as an ETL/ELT developer.
• 8 + years related experience in a similar role as a BI Export and Specialist.
• Dynamic, autonomous/resourceful and results oriented.
• Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience working with complex data sets, models, and performing data analysis
• Expert knowledge, skills and experience as an OLAP Developer, creating analytic cubes, reports/dashboards and visualizations, using both traditional and modern BI tool.
• Team player and maintain close collaborations within the BI and Data Analytics team as well as with business stakeholders.
• University degree or diploma (or certification) in computer science, business intelligence, or related field, with at least 10yrs of work experience
• Expert knowledge, skills and experience with SQL, and writing SQL queries.
• Proven knowledge, skills and experience working with business stakeholders to assess BI needs, translating business requirements into technical BI deliverables, and creating technical/functional documentations.

Assets:

• Knowledge and experience working in banking industry would be a strong asset.
• Knowledge and experience with lake house technologies (Databricks) would be a strong asset.
• Development experience in Power BI (online) would be a strong asset.
• Bilingual, with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and French.
• Knowledge and experience working with Data Profiling tools would be an asset.
• Knowledge and experience with predictive modelling tools would be an asset.
• Knowledge and experience working with Cognos, MicroStrategy, Tableau would be an asset.
