Overview


Pembina is seeking a Senior Engineer, Automation to join our Conventional Business Unit (CBU) Operation Engineering group located in Calgary, Alberta, reporting to the Supervisor Operation Engineering.


Responsibilities


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Coordinate with Operations personnel to scope maintenance related projects, addressing issues related to operational safety, obsolescence, optimization and general repairs;
  • Act as liaison for Calgary Operations Engineering and field operations matters;
  • Champion solutions to address operational problems;
  • Design, commission, and troubleshoot process control networks;
  • Develop PLC and HMI configurations for internal projects including commissioning in the field;
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
  • Actively participate in design reviews and process hazard assessments;
  • Interface collaboratively with Project Teams, Operations Engineering, Operations and Service Groups, to enhance execution effectiveness; and
  • Review PLC, HMI, and device configurations prepared by EPC consultants, contractors and suppliers;
  • Provide technical assistance to small projects through the project lifecycle to, modify and maintain CBU assets;
  • Assist and facilitate Calgary Operations Engineering Group in Management of Change (MOC) execution and support matters;
  • Seek cost effective, fit for purpose solutions to the work while maintaining compliance with Code, Regulatory and Environmental;
  • Coordinate consultants and contractors to complete capital or operational projects;
  • Work with field operations to assist troubleshoot and optimize process control;


Job Qualifications


  • Process control experience in pipelines, truck terminals, and storage facilities in both HVP and LVP service;
  • Experience configuring Cisco managed switches would be an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience in IT/OT collaboration to help execute IoT corporate projects and initiatives.
  • 10-15 years of engineering experience with a P.Eng. designation;
  • Working knowledge of regulatory codes related to the operation of oil and gas facilities;
  • Experience with ScadaPack RTU programming preferred;
  • Experience with Citect, Magelis, and Eaton HMI programming preferred;
  • Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting process control networks;
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination between engineering, field execution teams, commissioning teams and Code inspectors; and
  • Experience with Modicon PLC hardware and programming preferred, knowledge of other programming platforms would be considered as asset;
  • Previous EPC design engineering experience is required;
