Reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Disclosure and Business Partnerships, the incumbent plays a key role in the Structures and Investments team’s activities. This team acts as a business partner to various other teams to support the implementation and monitoring of investment structures. This role is divided into two main components, namely coordinating the implementation and risk management of investment structure activities in collaboration with the other operational and investment support groups, as well as providing advisory services to various sectors within CDPQ.

This role is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic and motivated team on a wide range of varied projects across several sectors. This is also a good opportunity to develop a business and strategic perspective with regard to capital deployment and post-investment management throughout the life of an investment.

Main Responsibilities

Risk management component related to business practices in control positions and holding structures:
  • Contribute to the evolution of investment structure governance and management guidelines, including by helping the team develop policies and procedures when identifying operational risks or standardization opportunities, as well as process simplification or automation, to support the growth of CDPQ.
  • Ensure the coordination of monitoring and operational activities on an ongoing, cross-functional basis with the sectors.
  • Coordinate the launch of new subsidiaries, including compliance with governance elements.
  • When implementing new investments and structures:
  • Coordinate the multidisciplinary team’s activities (legal affairs and secretariat, taxation, operations, risk, investment) in project management mode.
  • Develop and prepare documentation, communication tools and executive summaries related to the team’s risk management activities.
  • When carrying out post-investment follow-up of structures:
  • Identify, assess and manage the structure’s risks and operational complexities in collaboration with other sectors.
  • Implement accounting activities, including assessing regulatory compliance requirements, as well as overseeing and evaluating outsourced administrative management.

Accounting Advisory Service Component For Investment Sectors

  • Support the Accounting team in CDPQ’s financial disclosure process.
  • Support managers in the structures’ accounting and financial operations, including managing the process of preparing and auditing financial statements according to local accounting frameworks, the analysis of accounting treatments and the structure’s accounting needs.
  • Prepare internal training for investment teams on various accounting topics.
  • Support the accounting activities of the finance teams of portfolio companies.
  • Conduct ad hoc accounting research on various topics to answer questions from investment sectors and other operational support teams.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, in order to interact with external partners based outside Québec (e.g. service providers, law firms, peers, bankers, brokerage firms, credit analysis firms and credit agencies)
  • Five to eight years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in French, both spoken and written
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent understanding of IFRS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA and/or CFA designation (or equivalent)
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Deadline-oriented
  • Ability to manage projects
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Sense of initiative
  • Leadership
  • Rigour and detail-oriented
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Good business acumen and risk management
  • Executive communication skills
  • Autonomy

Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
