Location: Institute of Ocean Sciences

Position Title: Site Supervisor - Security Guard

Position Status: Non-Union

Wage: 21.15/hr + 2.5% RSP and $15.00 per shift commuting allowance

Shifts: Monday – Friday 07:00 - 15:00 (full-time)

Reports to: Client Service Manager

Job Responsibilities:

• Treat all team members of our IOS CMRE Team with value.
• Dispatching of Client Vehicles to the Science departments.
• Proactively respond to and resolve emergency situations and conflicts.
• Have knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
• Scheduling staff using Track Tik scheduling software.
• Provide access control and security foot patrols as needed.
• Communicate problems or concerns to the Client Service Manager.
• Complete evacuation and emergency response procedures.
• Possess excellent multi-tasking, problem solving, prioritizing and organizational abilities.
• Provide superior customer service to clients and general public.
• Perform all duties with high safety standards.

Required Education, Qualifications and Experience:

• Must be willing to complete the online Commissionaire Security Officer Course (CSOC)
• Must be fluent in the English language - written, verbal and reading skills.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Must have a positive attitude with a professional demeanor, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Must possess a Level 2 secret Security clearance
• Must possess a valid BC Security Workers License.
• Must be physically fit and able to stand for long periods at a time.
• Have excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
• Have excellent attention to detail to fulfill duties and responsibilities and incident report writing.
• Must be able to work in a range of weather conditions throughout shift.
• Have the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in varying situations.
• Have a demonstrated interest and experience in serving the public.
