Who We Are
ONxpress Transportation Partners (ONxpress) was chosen by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario (IO) to enter the Development Phase of the On-Corridor Works project – the largest project in Metrolinx’s GO Expansion. Unprecedented in its scale and complexity, this multi-billion dollar capital program will transform the GO regional rail network with electrification, more frequent service, shorter journey times and a more modernized system for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
Summary:
ONxpress is looking for a Security Coordinator, reporting to the Security director. The primary focus of this position will be the coordination and implementation of Security activities for the project. As a security team member, you will proactively administer company requirements in alignment with all stakeholders on the specific security requirement as per the project agreement.
Responsibility
- You will be responsible for developing security-related documents and Submissions for the client’s Safety Certification Committee.
- Support the team in delivering all security management functions related to Initial Works.
- Develop and promote a positive Security culture within the workplace and attend any security-related meetings/briefings as required within the Job role.
- Review security-related incidents to ensure the thorough Investigation of security-related incidents, including structured de-briefing.
- Coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure proper execution of security contract programs from a protocol and training perspective section for all security responsible persons.
- Coordination of the project plan within security entities.
- Facilitate and support strategic discussions and recommendations to the security team.
- Enable strong interlock and teamwork across all organization segments to align strategic and transformational initiatives.
- Assess security incidents and provide investigation reports as required.
- Provide thought leadership in solving complex problem statements across all segments of our Security base.
- Define and review all security-related policies, plans, and strategies annually.
- The security coordinator will coordinate all security management functions related to Initial Works, Operations and Maintenance Services, and Vehicle Supply Services, including Vulnerability Assessment and CPTED.
- Prepare and present regular updates to management and the Executive team on the project’s progress.
- Implementation of security culture awareness for all staff and subcontractors.
- Plan and ensure training security awareness and exercise for security-responsible personnel and security staff.
- Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate all security activities across the project.
- Safety Certification Committee or the Contracting Authority Safety Performance Review Committee; and ensuring that all third parties follow the requirements of Applicable Law and the project’s needs.
- Maintain systems and processes for recording security incidents, outcomes, and results.
- Foster a high-energy, results-oriented, inclusive work environment.
- Identify risks and navigate program roadblocks.
- Perform on-call duty when required.
Education & Qualifications
- Have an advanced degree (or equivalent) in an area of study relevant to the role.
- Bachelor's degree in technology, computer science, or equivalent.
Certifications or Designations
- Train Trainer and Assessor certification will be an asset.
- Certified Protection Professional certified by ASIS International, or equivalent applicable alternative acceptable to Contracting Authority.
- High level of proficiency in coordinating methodology.
Experience
- Over 5 years of relevant experience in a project coordination role delivering complex transformation programs across cross-functional business areas.
- High level of proficiency with methodology and project management tools.
- Experience with infrastructure, application, or security projects (considered an asset)

- Able to operate a complex system with safety and security-related functions.
- Big picture thinking and selling the vision.
- Have a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across all levels of an organization (including briefing executive management, governance committees, and oversight groups) on the security status and issues surrounding risk management decisions.
- Good computer skills, Office applications, MS Project, and MS Visio would be an asset.
- Proven problem-solving, strategic, and analytical capabilities with a convincing track record of setting and delivering against key metrics.
