Job Description
As part of our company's organizational transformation, we're investing in quality improvements and creating a stronger, centralized Quality Organization. Organized into cross-functional teams, it's a unique Stellantis division comprised of engineers supporting manufacturing, engineering and supplier quality who work together to solve product quality issues and reduce warranty claims. The company has defined six different types of quality and set measurable targets for improvement in each category. Since 2009, the number of employees working on our coordinated quality strategy has increased more than 400 percent. A commitment to quality impacts every corner of the organization and the Quality teams are empowered to improve customer satisfaction, the product and processes. As such, we have Corporate Quality teams nestled into our manufacturing facilities.
The Quality organization is currently seeking a skilled, solutions-oriented Resident Engineer to join Stellantis Corporate Quality Team at Windsor Assembly Plant. The Resident Engineer will report to the Resident Engineering Manager of Corporate Quality and will lead all quality systems/programs, provide technical expertise to hourly and manufacturing salary personnel at Windsor facility and collaborate with plant manufacturing and engineering operations to champion Stellantis quality improvement efforts across all functional areas. The Resident Engineer will apply advanced problem solving and engineering and knowledge to identify risks and create risk mitigation plans to resolve production and quality system deficiencies. The selected candidate will oversee and review project deliverables throughout the project lifecycle ensuring the product meets or exceeds customers' needs and expectations. The candidate must be high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions -- a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style and demeanor, effectively provides ideas, solutions and leadership to others. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity.
Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Collaborating and leading internal and external resources to maintain strong customer relationships with dedication to the program schedule
  • Delivering statistical analysis of data on competition, customer direction, product performance, employee performance and perception of the customer to the manufacturing team members
  • Employing advanced problem-solving expertise to correct unfavorable variances and communicate alternative measures to mitigate engineering, timing and/or financial issues
  • Protecting product design intent and function while assisting with identification and solutions of manufacturing constraints
  • Providing technical direction to employees regarding root cause analysis, issue resolution and establish corrective actions serving as the subject matter expert (SME) within the manufacturing facility
  • Providing supervision necessary to perform, administer or direct rework/repair methods and processes in compliance with engineering standards
  • Providing expert technical leadership in coordinating and directing cross functional teams in the application of quality initiatives
  • Supporting Corporate Quality objectives/deliverables and communicate customer demands to all groups involved to ensure organizational success
  • Empowering (hold authority) to cease and commence product related activities in relation to quality related issues Lead teams to identify risks/hazards associated with product designs, processes, applications, applying lessons learned, and assist in the generation of FMEA's and associated Control Plans
  • Interpreting released engineering designs, specifications, materials and standards for hourly and salary personnel Engineer process variation reduction
  • Providing clear direction to skilled and non-skilled trades in the operation of product testing and evaluation to generate necessary quality test data

Basic Qualifications
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Well-versed in Excel, PowerPoint and MS Access
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited university (other Engineering degrees, in combination with relevant experience may be considered)
  • Ability to communicate details from Executive level to plant staff level
  • Experienced with problem solving tools
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and teach others
  • Effective presentation/public speaking skills
  • Self-motivated and directed
  • Ability to work off shift hours as necessary
