Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Food Services Supervisor to join the Food Services team working out of Richmond Hospital in Richmond, BC. The successful candidate will be self motivated and able to work both independently and in a team setting. They will also have a strong work ethic that allows them to oversee daily food services to ensure a safe and respectful environment for staff, patients, residents, families, and visitors.

As a Health Care Food Service Supervisor with VCH you will
  • Approve timesheets and maintain accurate records in Kronos/payroll system.
  • Performing daily cashouts
  • Oversee the daily food service in assigned areas including
  • Ensure that full service cafeteria and/or coffee shop and daily catering run smoothly for customer service, food quality, food safety, physical safety and merchandise excellence.
  • Ordering,
  • And related financial entries.
  • Maintain food standards by participating in quality assurance activities and coordinates regular inventory counts.
  • Supervising and training staff,
  • Performing administrative financial computerized record keeping for daily, weekly, and monthly periods,
  • Promote and maintain excellent customer relations and effective on-going communication with all levels of staff that fosters a respectful Food Services work environment.
  • Overseeing staffing schedules,


Education & Experience


  • Graduation from a recognized program in Food Service Supervision
  • Food Safe Certificate 1.
  • Two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Knowledge & Abilities


  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment includes current Point of Sale (POS) systems and equipment.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.


The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.


As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
